CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Uh no, these monsters are more like spiders than vampires. Instead of changing people into themselves, the people become these little shriveled husks.
Swimming... I would think they're not fond of water, persay, but that if they do enter water, they slip in and swim silently and then leap up like a horror movie. Chassy is good, but remember you need to imagine a scenario to explain why she wasn't near a time-telling device (clock, watch, calendar, sundial, etc.) at the moment of change.

Take your time. It doesn't behoove the thread to have everyone bump into everyone else on the same day. You also might want to skim through this thread to read the other things we've decided on.
Jelly, I think... what do you think about waiting until nightfall? If I've read right, your character is rather unfamiliar with the creatures, yes? I think I might have an idea for him. PM me.

I was thinking maybe for Chassy, she could be more or less chased off her island (Staten) and either swim or take a boat over to Manhattan. (Or she could just see the city skyline in the distance and get it into her to go over there and live.)
The problem with swimming is, I don't know how feasible/realistic that would be (as I'm not particularly familiar with New York City geography). Not to mention--who knows what all is living in the water. :o
The problem with taking a boat is that she'd have to know how to drive one. Though I have an idea about what might happen on the boat if she takes one...

Google Maps I've been using it this whole thread and I love it. Though at the moment it's refusing to recognize Central Park.
What I mean is when. We can't have everyone pile in all at once and when we do we need everyone to meet in different ways so it's not repetitive.

Thankies, but it seems Locket-o has something in store for me...
I am cool, as my schedule is a bit kooky as always. Yes, he's seen glimpses of the creatures, once or twice, but he's never really seen them or had them approach him. He could've dealt with them, I think, but I wasn't fond of having to write that sort of stuff out.
I replied, and knowing myself, I'll probably be up for it, so details would be nice.

Alright, I'm reading a really interesting (if evolutionary minded) book about what would happen to everything we left if behind if humans suddenly vanished. Here are some things that may benefit our RPG:
First, all of Manhattan's rivers were pushed underground into pipes when the island was run over with civilization. With electricity dying within the first few days, all the pumps keeping the groundwater levels down in the subway tubes will stop. Everything below ground will eventually flood relatively quickly (certainly within our three years) and water may eventually make its way above ground, turning random streets into rivers, especially when debris clogs up sewer grates and such.
Pavement will also be messed up. Without humans to weed and patch, it will split and buckle during the winter and all sorts of plants- even trees- will start to sprout during the spring and summer.
Fire will also be an issue. Once pipes burst in the winter, things will pile and grow not only outside but inside. One random lightening bolt and whoosh!
