  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alright, it has been a while since I read one of his books. So understand that I may recall incorrectly or he may have since changed his views.

However, the thing he was famous for was using the jubilee calendar to try to hone in on end-time events.

He seems to argue for the Jubilee cycle ending in 1994, and that this is the termination of the year-day principle, so that later prophetic numbers, not yet fulfilled, would be literal.

Notice this chart on page 1 showing the jubilee cycle ending in 1994:

http://www.wake-up.org/Charts/DandR_v3.pdf

Under the chart he lists principles of interpretation. Number 4 is the one alluded to above:

Rule 4: The presence or absence of the Jubilee Calendar determines how God measures time in apocalyptic prophecy.

Essentially his differing rules for prophetic interpretation lead to different results.

Well I think there is something significant about the jubilee calendar.

Christ declared that the Scripture in Isaiah referring to the release of the captives, etc. written in Jubilee language, was fulfilled in their day. Jesus was doing the work of the year of Jubilee.

The prophecy of the 70 weeks is given in sabbatical weeks of years, and is itself a set of jubilee cycles, pointing forward to the fulfillment of the jubilee in Christ.

But no, I don't agree with Wilson's view.

Now are you saying there is nothing that the jubilee points to, or that the jubilee issue is not the thing that your relative is interested in?

In any case, if you can research the true fulfillment of the year of jubilee and its cycles then you can present that to your father.
