i think thats his name do you know the show im talking about ? its like a reality tv show but i think its scripted and rehearsed but not very well i might add, i dont understand it at all, is it supposed to be funny ?

its based around an actor (larry) i think, hes an older man with long grey curlish hair and glasses who lives with his wife and spends alot of time going to restaurants with his friends, its on quite late at night over here in the uk so maybe im missing the plot a bit due to tiredness can someone please explain it to me ?

Curb Your Enthusiasm is the show.

And I think its brilliant. Its one of the funiest shows I've ever seen. Its not scripted or rehearsed... the general plot and a few key lines are sketched out but the rest is like improv.

Larry David was the creator of Seinfeld and if you like Seinfeld you probably like this show, and vice versa.

Basically the show is about how Larry is a jerk and bad things happen to him.. but a lot of the time he is innocent yet he still gets the short end of the stick. The plotlines have a marvelous way of tying together at the end, just like Seinfeld. ^_^

ok i appreciate that humour in the us is different from humour in the uk in some respects but surely the running joke of having 'that thing' stuck in his throat, making him gag during stressful situations is rather crude, childish and old, no ?

sorry but this is the one thing that sticks in my mind thinking about the show

Yeah it is crude and childish, I won't deny that! I see Larry David as the epitome of man without God. But it is fiction, and its funny.

Yeah there is a huge difference between British and American comedy. HUGE!
Of British humor I'm a big fan of "Fawlty Towers" and "The Office."
