CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank you. Here's the finale; a two-story phoenix. All of this is metal wire framework with colored fabric over it, and lighted internally. Amazing art form.

Those are great shots! Are those lanterns made out of colored paper? I've never seen anything quite like that before. I though you photo was a photoshop creation at first.

In the lantern festivals I've seen, they are colored fabric over metal rod and wires, with lights inside. I managed to get into one site while it was under construction...

It's a Chinese art, and an amazingly beautiful one. If you ever get a chance to see one, take it. They are much more beautiful when you see them for real.

Thanks! Those are beautiful. Years ago I saw the Fires Festival in Spain. They made sculptures out of paper mache, some of them three stories high, then they burned them all on the last day of the festival. Those were beautiful too but not lit from within like these lanterns.

You think running with the bulls is crazy? Here they create all these giant paper torches and light them all off at the same time at the end of the festival. They have them all over town, on every public square, etc It's something to see.
