Lake Effect

Ok, who here knows what lake effect is, and who here is also getting it dumped on them?



I absolutely love snow and we're finally getting some in SW Michigan!!!!!

Well, I know what it is but we're not getting any at present, though earlier we got some. Michigan gets it more than Wisconsin.

However I CAN say that it is super-duper cold here right now.

Oh ya! Big time BRRRRRR here in Wisconsin. We got some snow here yesterday. All I pretty much know about lake effect snow is that it snows more. LOL Not sure shy that is though.

We had some lake effect snow last night. You could watch it coming off lake michigan and streaming across the state. Fortunately I live in S.E. Michigan so we didn't get much.
It happens when air moves across the marmer water, in this case lake michigan, and picks up moisture, depositing same down wind.It won't work if the body of water is too cold or frozen over.
