Lack of stock in stores

I am currently staying with my mom at her place in Michigan. This weekend, I went to the local grocery store. OF course, there was no toilet paper, or tissue or wipes or Lysol. But there was also no chicken, no ground beef, only expensive beef cuts and not much of that, little pork, no oatmeal, some cereal but not much, some pasta, no sugar, little flour, hardly any can goods, no frozen corn, green beans and other veges.
I got one of the last carton of eggs. There was little butter.

It reminds me of why my husband and I have a stock at our place and my daughter's place. We don't have a bunch at my daughter's place, and more at our home, but only about 6 months worth at that of some basics like rice, beans, sugar, flour, salt, and noodles, and other things. We have canned goods and rotate the stock, replacing what we used, so that cans don't sit too long.

It would be better if folks planned ahead for situations like this (coronavirus) and not empty the stores in fear.

That's pretty much the way it is here as well. My parents had to try three stores to find eggs.

For good news, there is not a food shortage. The stock is running out of stores but it is refilled quickly, and grabbed quickly. We are fortunate to have so much food, although some of the pries may be raising a bit on items.

I just went tonight for the first time in a week. It looked a lot like this, though some things were fully stocked: broccoli, corned beef, arugula (which they haven’t had in weeks).

Same thing happening down here in Australia. People are just freaking out and over-reacting and there is no need to clean the supermarkets out of stock.

I liked to keep a month’s worth of food in stock due to hurricanes. I saw food hoarding panic coming. I was caught off guard by the severity of the stock market sell off even though I had been warned.

Remember the parable of the ten virgins invited to a wedding banquet. Some had stored enough oil for their lamps, others had not. The wedding banquet was announced. The ones with oil in their lamps were able to attend the wedding banquet, while those without oil were not able to purchase oil in time. They were supposed to dress appropriately.

Remember in desperate times thieves broke in and stole. They waited until no one was home and broke in. Some people lost their food and gold caches to looters. Bitcoin users lost their passwords and were wiped out. People did not diversify and trusted the stock market too much.

God has his eye on the sparrow. One may seek the praise that comes from God more than the praise of worldly rulers.

We stocked in anticipation of hurricanes too. We went through one pretty well.

The numbers in Michigan jumped again and I saw less supplies in the local store. So I bought a 12 pack of TP.

But it has been okay since. But I plan on buying some more can goods.
