lack of interest in new threads

I'm a very shy person so this isn't easy for me to do but I just wanted to mention that people have been making new threads for us to do different things on and I was wondering why there arent many people playing on them?
Most all of them disappear within a few days with alot of bumps and I think some of them were really good ones.

I hope that maybe this week more of us could look around for some different threads and at least try something new It would be nice to get more new things going in here to rep in.

I hope I didn't offend anybody and I'm very sorry if I have.

yes I have noticed as well so I often go and find and old thread and bring it back but only to find it is pages away the next day

I am so glad that I'm not the only one noticing this. And I'm glad you're being nice about this too because I really didn't want to make a thread to say this lol.

I do that a lot too Farmsys and the same thing happens. I was starting to wonder if that could be part of why less people are coming here lately. Its gotten sort of stale with the same threads. I know it sounds bad but I'm getting bored with these same threads all of the time and the worst part is that I don't know how it can be changed other than bumping threads.

I hope you don't feel like you have to explain what you do in this forum. I don't think that everybody will like the same threads or have interest in all the new ones.
This has been happening for a long time that I've noticed and I thought it would eventually change but its not.

Alot of us can relate to this,
Ironically, I just posted a "first 5 posters get a free reppy" thread and only got 2 people that posted for a rep.... I couldn't even give reps away in a new thread.

I'm glad you brought some attn. to it. I don't really play alot of the threads since I do mostly swapping & random repping here and outside this forum to other debate/congregation areas, but I tried to start alot of threads to help keep things interesting here or give good rep gains and most of them went nowhere.....

All you can do is try I think. Maybe eventually more people will get tired of the same ones and look to do try other things.
A friend of mine on the boards said that she didn't know about many new threads becuz she only went to the threads she subscribed to. She wasn't reading the rep forum thread lists.

I don't know what the answers are or if this is why the rep forum numbers are alot lower and interest seems lost (at least from what it was a month ago) but I do know that we all have reasons for what we like or want to do. Just like I have mine for not using alot of the other threads other members use.

I don't know, keep bumping them for interest is all I know to get people to try newer threads?

that's what some of us were noticing this past week - I know it's been mentioned in pm's.
I couldn't give all 5 free reps away on a quicky rep thread giveaway on a Saturday morning... lol :o

There does seem to be a major decline. It could be lots of reasons for that, but I do think some of it can be just boredom which this thread is addressing - she's bored of the same ones just continuing and nobody doing anything else and I can totally understand that; you can't play all by yourself... it takes participation of others to get anything new going & moving to get some new life in here.
If it's boring, spice it back up with some new threads & ways to move forward.

We swap alot, so it doesn't ever get boring to me, we're interracting together & it keeps it interesting for me.

But I agree there's been lack of interest in repping itself. Maybe the novelty wears off on people over time?
I honestly don't know what all the causes could be for each person, I just know I see less & less around as time goes on.

Isn't the "lack of interest in new threads" maybe also due to the fact that for quite some time these last few days ago it was actually quite hard to access the forum, post things and I won't even mention repping.

After some time desperately trying to do something here I just gave up and waited till the forum got back to normal, more or less (what seems to be gone is the part in a thread that showed you who is actually reading it at the moment).

Though I just try to swap my reps that I got for the day, I'm not that active in the repaholic part.

I do like the relaxation > wordgames part though, and the other day I just had a peek on the last and second but last page, I thought there'd be only closed, split threads, though some seemed actually fun and perfectly valid, they just didn't get any follow-up.
Which is a pity imo, though maybe it's a bit like google, who of you when doing a research ever goes back more than 3 (if that...) pages of results? Threads here are a bit the same I suppose, if they get too far behind, no one's going to pick them up anymore.

That said, I'd always be willing to try something new with my measly 20 reps/day

There's always different reasons going on, maybe too many to list...

Some of it could be due to the forum being so screwed up 2 weeks at least at this point; most of us just used our reps & stayed offline as much as possible after awhile.

But this problem had been going on long before the tech glitches... it's been going on here for a long time now. Before swap/trading came along, me & many others were working these boards heavy, and we tried to get all kinds of new concepts & games going & people just ignored them all. (you'll see them in the archives way back there lol).

Once I started the swapping thread, we just hopped on those types of games & left all the others becuz some or alot of us were tired of the same ones being the only thing to do here to rep.
That also contributed (imho) to a rep gap that happened. The people that ignored the swap threads altogether weren't moving up in reps as much as others who were. That's how I view it anyways - I could be wrong.

But that's basically how this was all started back in mid February. (just for a recap) lol

It seems to me that those with all the big reps are running the repaholics forum, no offense, but that is what I see. Maybe the ones with little reppage are tired of feeling unimportant and ignored in their new threads. Seems to be an elite group here that gets all the attention. I know this gets me down. The same people get popular threads most of the time and the same ones make new threads all the time. Why not visit some of the other threads that are back a ways and show some caring for others, too. It seems there are attention junkies here. This is IMHO. Forgive me if I offend anyone.

I think this isn't nice to say because you're judging those people just because they have a lot of reps and that's not right to do to them.

A few of them were making alot of threads here to help people get more rep points. If you don't want to use them then maybe that's why the rep score stays in the low numbers. It worked for them.

I have had 2 threads recently giving away stars. So, y'all have it better now than when I first came here.

Yes, it has been a bit stale in here lately, but I think it will pick up in time. It looks like the number of online users is still about half of what it used to be, so probably lots of people who are still not around much, waiting for the upgrades to stabilize.

And that's also a good point about only checking the threads you're subscribed to. I do that some days as well, which means I miss new fun threads occasionally. We can all take a few minutes to either start a new thread or look back over a few pages and bump some fun ones back up. That should help some.

I started with 9 stars when I found this forum - and on Feb. 22nd I made the first swap thread when I had 16 stars at that time. (I know that becuz I went and looked at the date and numbers 2 days ago).

Like you, I worked for every single rep I have and thank every single person who gave me 1. I was fellowshipping and working these threads - anyone going back in the archives can see where we were working for reps heavily and creating threads along the way.

It looks like there's probly just rep envy going on & nobody can change that but the people who have it.
It used to make me feel bad, now I just ignore it for what it is.

good point - how can you complain that your numbers are low if you won't use the threads others use to move up? Who's fault is it?

Hi Des! I'm the same way, I only check subscriptions some days when I have alot of them listed.
Some use only that for awhile - so I definitely understand it; they won't even see this thread becuz of that
And I think too that some haven't returned from a time out here with all the CF glitches.
But that problem of no interest in new threads was alive a ways before these problems.

I just hope things return to the way they were with busy rooms and lots of fun again. =)
