You are lost. You may have been anything - a farmer, a peddler, a rogue, a bard, a warrior, a bounty hunter, or wyrmrider. None of that matters anymore.

You remember nothing of what was before, you remember nothing of your past life. All you know is that now you exist in the Labyrinth, a twisted dungeon of enchantment. There are many like you, with their memories lost as well, and they are asking questions, just as you are. You know there was something before, there has to have been. You can feel it.

Now in the ultimate quest to find the other life and the lives of your new comrades. Many have come before you, as you will soon find out, but there may still be a chance. Isn't there?

The party was two levels below where they started, standing before a set of bronze doors. It had been a countless number of days since they set out from where they awoke. One of the members of the party, Barthal the Thief, tried briefly to pick the lock on the door, with no success. Another party member stood beside him holding a torch, supplying light for the other. “It must be held by magic. The lock won’t even wiggle.” the Thief complained.

Another member of the party, Morningstar, a slender Elven woman with beautiful features smiled. “I have just the thing.” She said, drawing from her backpack a scroll. Reading the inscription silently, she lifted her hand and pointed it at the door. Abruptly, a little puff of smoke came from the lock and the gears clicked. “Try it again.” she suggested.

I am tempted to say that Barthal bent to his work, but he's a Halfling; at just over three feet tall he could look straight into the lock without stooping a bit. Soon, a click sounded, much like the first, and the Thief turned to the others and smiled. “It’s open, friends.” The torch was handed to him – he steeled himself, drew his knife, and opened the doors.

Beyond lay a stone sarcophagus, resting atop a raised platform. Strewn about the floor were many human
skeletons. The Thief made a sign with his hand as if to ward off evil. The party walked in carefully, trying not to
trip over the bones. Among the bones several bronze swords, covered in verdigris, lay like forgotten toys from long ago. Barthal stepped to the sarcophagus. "The lid is likely very heavy," he said. "Come, Morningstar, rather than lift it, let's turn it about so we can see what treasures lie inside."

Morningstar called "Wait!" but it was too late . . . the Thief had already laid hands upon the sarcophagus. The bones on the floor began to rattle, then rose up and assembled themselves in a mockery of life. Without delay they picked up their swords from the floor and studied us for an instant.

And that was when the nightmare really began.

But for now lets back up. Just back up to where it all began, two days ago. Hopefully the same fate will not befall the characters this time, and if it does, they should come out courageous. It all starts in the room. With little food left.

Create your character and make your first post as you wake up. You may have anything – a sword, a bow, an axe – but you remember NOTHING of why you have the skills and why you are what you are.

The only limitations to character creation are that you may not overpower your character, and that there are different “slots” that must be filled. The filled slots will be listed in the OOC.

There must be the following ‘characters’:
~ The Warrior – an all-around fighter (Boromir)
~ The Priest – uses divine assistance in pulling off miracles and acts of faith
~ The Thief – a small, quick, stealthy fighter (Sam)
~ The ‘Magic-User’ (Gandalf)
~ The Bard – the storyteller, illusionist, and jack-of-trades.
~ The Barbarian – a massive, brute-like character focusing on raw strength.
~ The Tank – a small, compact fighter (Gimli)
~ The Adventurer – an average person dragged into the fight (Merry and Pippin)
~ The Scout – a stealthy warrior that usually takes the fight long-ranged or from cover (Legolas)
~ The Ranger – the hybrid between the bard and scout, yet with qualities of a warrior (Aragorn)

Note. The parentheses are only for those who have seen lord of the rings, as they might help picture the character types. These are simply guidelines, and if you wish to play a character that really does not fit into one of the categories I might create a new one. Two of them are already taken by NPCs (Barthal is a Thief, and Morningstar is a Magic-User), but all of the others may be used. First come first serve, however. The only type that may be filled multiple times is the Adventurer.

Simply state your character idea and I can help you figure out what slot it would fit in.

Note that once four players have joined, the rpg will begin in three days later, not including weekend days, and all slots not filled will be NPCs.

There really is no rule on races, though I prefer those that are found in major sources.

THE SLOTS....... (The ones in bold and unerlined are taken, followed in parentheses by the character and the player that plays it)
~ The Warrior
~ The Thief (Barthal/NPC)
~ The Priest
~ The ‘Magic-User’ (Morningstar/NPC)
~ The Bard
~ The Barbarian
~ The Tank
~ The Adventurer
~ The Scout
~ The Ranger
