First congratulations because your Spanish was well aceptable.
Felicidades escribistes un Espanol bastante aceptable.
The word ello, I have no idea what the heck is.
La palabra ello no tengo ni perra idea que es.
But the word ellos, yes is a pronound masculine which it means Those guys, I think this is the closest.
Pero La palabra ellos es un pronombre, que quiere decir un grupo de muchachos.
I hope I was able to help you. Sometimes I write too much and people gets frustated. God Speed to you with your Spanish. Greenboy.

Sorry, my spanish is more improved now than then. What I was trying to say: In my spanish class we brought up that Ellas meant 'them (feminine) and ella meant 'she'.

if él is 'he' and ellos is 'them (masculine)', what is ello? Turns out, yes, it means 'it'

I am a teacher of Spanish at the college level. I am writing this in English so that you fully understand the meaning of "ello". First, "ello" is NOT a subject pronoun like "yo", "tu", "ella", etc. Second, there only certain times when you can use it. "Ello" means "it" as an OBJECT (not a subject). For example, if I say I don't want to talk about it--"it" is an object after the preposition "about". This might not be the best example, but in Spanish, I could say "Pues, no quiero hablar de ello". So, when using "ello", it will come after a preposition to mean "it". Hope that helps.
