  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just saw it Friday night - it was absolutely terrific and I hope to see future episodes of it. It was very hilarious as well as just generally entertaining. I was surprised that the Kung Fu sequences really are not much of a spoof much of the time, but very well done martial arts sequences that I enjoyed quite much.

Overall, a very terrific film.

Oh hey by the way, Stephen Chow, didn't he create the fighting scenes for the Matrix? Because if so, I think thats why it sort of seemed like a spoof to me, just from the previews I've seen.

The choreographer was this other guy named Yuen Wo Ping.

The more famous movies among the American audiences that Yuen had choreographed were Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as well as the Kill Bill series and the Matrix series.
He's choregraphed other films, but I doubt American people would really know them.

So yeah. He's basically spoofing his own film.

I saw the preview for it, and I was floored!
All kung fu movies have comedy in them, it's just how those Asians are, they are some crazy people!
Tarantino said that the audience loves to see movies that contian everything, comedy, drama, action. So it's common to see Asian movies try to run the list of emotions.

I thought it was a pretty good movie. I feared that they were going to dub it, but I was glad when I saw that it was subtitled. I didn't see the American release of Shaolin Soccer so I wasn't sure of how his movies were being handled over here.

Yeah. Try watching a Wong Jing film. Like God of Gamblers, which runs the gamut from very slick fantastical gambling sequences, to bloody slapstick, to violent fist fights, to bloody high body count shootouts, to necrophilia, and then back to slapstick... Yeah.

Anyway, Kung Fu Hustle was very good. Some of the fights were very entertaining, and the outrageousness of the film was great. The kind of film Jimmy Wang Yu would have made if he'd had tons of cash and computers to back him up. Overall though, I liked Shaolin Soccer better.

I loved it. The ending was so sad. Although I don't understand Chinese (I'm Korean), that Chinese song to go along with that final sad scene almost made me cry.
Whaaaaat?! It may have been emotional, but it wasn't sad at all. In fact, it was happy.

Anyway, my opinion about the movie: Absolutely fantastic. One of the most enjoyable movies I've seen.
