  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Knights Templar were a military order of knights in the 12th and 13th centuries and were supposedly the keepers of the Holy Grail, the cup Jesus used in the Last Supper.

I'm gathering that your teacher is giving you this assignment in conjucntion with the recent movie release, "The Da Vinci Code", which purports that the Holy Grail is actually a bloodline of Jesus Christ, from a marriage with Mary Magdeline.

I think it's all bunk, myself.

Anyway, here are some resources for your research:

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14493a.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_Templar_%28military_order%29

http://www.mystae.com/restricted/streams/masons/templars.html

Basically, I just googled "Knights Templar" to obtain these websites. Be aware that there are other websites like the Freemasons who have adopted the term, but it has little to do with what you are looking for. Have fun.

They were shut down by the king of France.

Alledgedly, they

1. Worshipped the devil
2. Recieved orders from him through a bauphmet
(a talking boars head)
3. Participated in Homosexual orgies
4. Did the work of the Devil, as ordered by their bauphmet
5. Initiated Christian recruits into their order through perverse acts
6. Tortured prisoners, killed women/childeren etc... looted, stole.

The king of France , who controlled (emphasis on controll, the pope was his puppet) the papal see at Avignon, ordered their destruction.

France was in danger of defaulting on its debts, and the country was very poor. Seizing the assets of the French Knights templar allowed the king to pay his debts and refill his treasury. Yes, they were that rich.

Personally, I believe both sides, namely, that they were evil, but the king needed money.

Well as it turns out when i asked my 98 year old grandfather what he knew, it turns out he is one. He id one of the strongest christians that ive seen and a very good person. He is truthfull and he said that in no way were the masons or knights templar involved with satan, and he said that they had no homosexual orgies.

Let me explain what i have learned-----
The knights templar helped poor people and protected good things---
The freemasons sprouted from the knights templar---
today, many freemasons donate money and food to the porr and hungry, and about 97% of them are Strong beliving christians.

The picture in my avatar is the square and compass wich stands for geomitry in God. It stands for how perfect he made us, in his own eyes.

i really somehow kinda doubt that it is a cult.

Oh and my grandfather gave me all of his masonic books and his masonic ring (he is a 32nd degree)
I wear it proudly every day.
I am going to become a mason when i am 21

Just a little reminder. Rule 6 reads in part:
Rule 6.6 said:
You MAY post in the "Christians Only" forums and MAY use a "Christian" faith icon in your profile if you consider yourself a "Christian" and DO adhere to the contents of the Nicene Creed AND believe in the following controversial doctrines BUT the specific discussion of these doctrines must be posted in the Open forums (for example, Unorthodox Theological Doctrines) and not in the Christian Only forums:
a. Full Preterism.
b. Open Theism.
c. Universalism or Universal Salvation.
d. Annihilationism.
e. Freemasonry.
Nothing wrong with the original question, but note discussion of freemasonry is not allowed in this forum.

They were not evil whatsoever. The Knights Templar were extremely orthodox believers.
Those accusations were false.
At least this is what I have learned. I would gladly hear evidence to the contrary.
