Yeah....unless your "court" characters are interesting and make it so us commoners can relate to them and care about what they're going through. I can care about a character who has to go to school, deal with the people there, and somehow tell her parents about the C she's getting in math. I'm not so sure I can relate to a celebrity trying to hide her engagement from the public. Now, that may not be what your book is like, but if you're going to write about royalty, you'd better make them like us: flawed, with hopes and dreams for the future along with doubts. And if "No, Friedrich, I won't marry you. Oh wait, what was that? Someone's stolen all the tea?!" is the extent of your conflicts, then that book would be pretty boring.

Do you get what I'm saying? I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that reading about "all the pressures royalty has to go through" doesn't sound all that interesting to me unless there's a bigger conflict. A murdering madman on the loose. A deadly illness. A rival kingdom that wants to go to war.

OK. THAT sounds interesting! Much better than "Oh NO!! Someone bleached my favorite gown! What am I going to wear the the five millionth ball this week? WHAT KIND OF SICK EVIL PERSON WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?!" Although it WOULD be funny...but it doesn't sound like "funny" is what you're going for.
