i got my first kitten a few weeks ago, a russian blue. he's such a spaz and is starting to bite. he's about 2 months old and bites whenever he's in his spazzy mood. does this teething/biting stage pass or is it a habit. how can i correct this cause it annoying when i sleep. TIA

my kitten does the same thing, we think the best way to fix it is to get our little Alfie fixed. At least your kitten isn't going pee pee on your bed

My siamese mix, whom I love, is still an occasional biter. When he was young it was a lot worse. He's about a year old now, and doesn't do it as often. I think it's just the way he plays. Most of the time he just wants to be petted and held, but once in a while he acts like he's possessed!

I wish I could give you some advice, but the best I can come up with is to second the suggestion that you get him fixed, and just try to protect yourself from him til he gets a bit more mature.

im getting the jewels chopped off as early as the vet will let me. one of my buddies was warning me about cats spraying and whatnot and i realllly want to avoid that. thats very true about the playin part cause thats the only time he does it. oliver's a fighter(i wanted to name him Rocky but my roommate wouldnt let me). he full out wrestles with my neighbors full grown cats all the time and holds his own even tho he's 2.5lbs. ive had him since he was 6 weeks old and he was the runt of the litter...he used to be so small and now he's growin....where has the time gone?? lol

Cats are quirky and unpredictable and cute. You have to love them the way they are.

I was concerned about my cat spraying when he got older too. Luckily I think we had him fixed in time to prevent this, we've never had a problem in that department.

I have some really cute home movies of our cat when he was about 2 months old, chasing and attacking our german shepherd. He still does it to this day, but it was just hilarious to watch them wrestling and chasing each other around the house when he was tiny. Luckily my dog is very patient and gentle and would never dream of hurting him.

He's beautiful, how old was he when you got him?

What's happening with him is that he wants to play, but doesn't understand that biting and scratching isn't acceptable playing habits. It can take a while to break, just have patience. Don't use your hands to play with him. Get a feather wand or something, but never use your hands as that teaches him that hands are toys. When he starts getting rough, put him down or walk away. Quit playing with him. This can take a while. It took one of my cats a whole year to stop biting us, but it was worth it since all he wants to do now is lay in our laps and be pet. You may want to consider keeping him out of your bedroom while you sleep until this stops. Trust me, mom/dad sleeping with their hand hanging off the bed is way too much temptation for a kitten to resist
