To fill you in, Aaron and Nami battled a few Hollows before meeting up with Vangel, a character who was immortal, and was a servant of the Time Lord. Vangel was sent to make sure that nothing happened to upset the Chain of Events--A horrible catostrophe that basically imploded the whole entire universe, save the immortal plane of life.
The Time Lord sent Vangel to ensure that Aaron would be killed by a Hollow underground in Halloween Town; this was supposedly ensured by the fact that Vangel's ability to control matter was null and void in the presence of Heartless (aqnd since Hollows were Heartless-Nobody hybrids, this also nulled his abilities)
However, Vangel had grown attached to his new companions, and attacked the weak ground beneath the Hollow to send a burst of lava to burn the Hollow away. This action inevitably upset the Chain of Events.
During the battle, Zexion had sent another Hollow to Halloween Town, and used it to Biu-Link with Jack skellington's heart. The Hollow fed off of Jack's life force, and, in due course, it would eventually kill him. The only option was to sacrifice someone's heart, by allowing the Hollow to Bi-Link with that person. Vangel volunteered as the guinea pig.
Vangel got close enough to allow the Hollow to initiate a Bi-Link. As it did this, Nami struck the finishing blow, destroying the Hollow. Vangel's heart floated out of his body, but since there was no Heartless to steal it, it went back into his body--This action created Zi, Vangel's Nobody.
Immediately after which, Zi appeared on Halloween Town, seeking hearts. He attempted to steal the necklace Nami had with all the hearts she had collected over the years. However, this attempt was thwarted by Vangel.
When Vangel's heart was released, it changed his personality--Vangel became an angry person, stirking out against Zi when he learned from Aaron that zi was Vangel's nobody. Vangel called zi worthless, and attempted to kill him. zi became the less dominant personality, becoming, essentially, Vangel's feelings docileness and gentleness.
The two ensued in a baatle, fighting for control of Vangel's body. Nami attempted to stop them, but Aaron told her to let them be. This battle would inevbitably decide which personality would take over, and there would be no point in choosing a side.
In the end, it was a draw--But, Vangel felt the Chain of Events appear over Halloween Town. Vangel reacted quickly, slicing open Nami's necklace, releasing a horde of hearts into the back hole that was the Chain. The hearts temporarily stopped the chain, and it disappeared.
Vangel told Aaron and Nami that the Chain would reappear in Twilight Town. He told them to go, and try to find a way to stop it. In reality, he was lying--He instead used a magic sword, and his own immortal heart, to seal the Chain of Events.
After witnessing this, Zexion attacked, when the group was most weakest. Zi and the others had returned to Halloween Town right as Vangel offered himself, and the ground crumbled, leaving Zi trapped beneath the ground.
Aaron and Nami fought triumphantly, but Nami was knocked down, and Aaron was still fighting. zi found a way to get aboveground, right as Ansem's soul entered Nami's body. He said that Nobodies were worthless peices of space, and should be killed upon sight. This angered Zi, causing him to go into a rage. In his blind rage, Zexion launched a sneak attacked--an energy web, that would trap, and slowly crush the trapped person. Aaron jumped in the way of the attack, pinning himself up against the wall. Zexion said that if they didn't defeat him quickly, Aaron would be crushed to death.
Zi was still angered, and wasted valuable time fighting with Ansem rather than Zexion. As Zexion became more enraged, as Aaron tried to get him back on track, Aaron gave Zi a speech--and died.
As he died, Nami reverted to herself, and was angry at Zexion. She attacked Zexion, but he had grown more powerful by accesing Kingdom Hearts through the spirit world--He was too strong.
Nami riskily shot a bolt of energy into Aaron's heart, just as it exited his body, to send it back in. Aaron's heartbeat came back, and he breathed slowly. After giving hima healing potion, Aaron was good as new....And also a Cycle Three Super-Nobody.
He fought, and was easily swatting off Zi and Zexion's attacks (Zi was consumed with rage at Aaron for another nobody comment). But, Zexion had been distracting them the whole time, and revealed that a Heartless had found the heart of the planet, and it would soon blow up. Nami hog-tied zi to a chair in her ship, and the ship took off--Nami was reluctant to leave, because all of the inhabitants would die, Jack especially. Jack responded that none of the inhabitants could leave, because their hearts were tired to Halloween town.
The ship took off.
