King Saul (Revised)
(target audience: preschool through grade one -- with grade 2 being able to read it)
Saul was a tall man. He was a good looking man.
Sauls dads name was Kish.
Saul loved his dad
Kishs donkeys got lost
Saul volunteered to go look for them.
As he was searching he met Samuel
Samuel was a servant of GOD
GOD told Samuel that Saul was HIS choice to be Israels first king
When Samuel told Saul, Saul was very surprised.
He didn't have many people in his small family. Kings usually came from big families.
But GOD chose Saul. Saul accepted GOD's call to be king.
Samuel anointed him as King of Israel.
GOD filled Saul with the HOLY SPIRIT. The SPIRIT used Saul to tell the future.
But when it was Saul's time to become King, he hid.
He was afraid to be king.
He had never been king.
He didn't know how to be king.
But GOD wanted him to be King.
And GOD promised to help him .
So Saul became king.
(Is anointed too big of a word for pre-school? What would be a better word?)
Again any and all constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated
