I hope you don't think I'm picking on you, or disbelieving in prophecy. I'm trying to fine tune discernment on the accuracy of prophetic type words.

I heard a guy named Duncan (probably Smith?) speaking at the Toronto Airport CF a while back, who was suggesting that many "words of prophecy" that have been passed around int he Church over the course of a couple of decades, are indeed prophetic in nature, but perhaps are merely words of wisdom or knowledge rather than actual prophecy.

He used an example from his own life, of where he went to a known prophet to seek answers to his intercessory burden for Australia. The word he received was that he was supposed to go there. But over time and through much prayer, he determined that the wording of the prophecy he received was simply a word of knowledge, that the prophet picked up on his burden for Australia and inserted it into a prophetic statement.

I know the Prophets and Prophecy have been the popular thing over the years, and have seen prophets churning out "words" to the congregations like candy. I'm beginning to see that a lot of this is indeed prophetic in nature, as in (possibly) what we see in the OT concerning the "School of the Prophets", where collective insight does lead a group of prophetic minded people to certain conclusions. Conclusions similar to what was stated in your "word" above, that America as we know it is doomed unless we repent.

Actual prophetic words however, come only from those who are given more than a word of knowledge concerning a given situation. They come in the form of direct and very specific language, and they stand the test of time.
