I just had to share this...
Each night (most nights at least) I listen to my 4 year old's prayers. He has a real knack for being thankful for some of the oddest things. Sometimes I have to really work hard to not laugh. I'm glad that he understands the idea of being thankful and that he is so willing to pray, don't get me wrong...but some things are just absolutely hilarious...
He typically thanks God for each person in his family, individually, then he thanks God for himself (my son). Then he lists each of his siblings' friends that he knows. Then comes the strange things...like dinosaurs, hot dogs, Dollar General (a dollar store here in town)...
A couple of evenings ago we were at the table preparing to eat and I reminded everyone to wait until we had given thanks...the 4 year old pipes up and says he wants to say the prayer...he proceeds to give thanks for the food (not the God is good, God is great prayer, but an individual prayer of thanks for the food)...I forgot what we were having, but just as he finished praying he goes "Oh, and thank you for ketchup and mustard, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, Amen"...and everyone at the table just lost it lauhing, including my dad who was having dinner with us.
