  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are your views on the first movie (Kick "Butt") and what do you think of the second one?

I've seen that ALOT of christians have seen the first one and are looking forward to the second one. I admittedly did see the first one and loved it. But after examining my life I sold my bluray version of it and decided not to see the second one. As new movies come out to shock us I found myself being more and more accepting of them and making excuses why it was ok to see them.

There is no redeeming factor in this series at all really. Gore, swearing, underage swearing, masturbation to porn and lust, underage sex (implied), violence, family killing together, torture, acceptance of same sex stuff...etc.

I've seen the first. Not a fan of it.

When it comes to films I'm fine watching whatever content. However, the attitude of a film matters very much to me. I didn't think Kick "Butt" really handled it's content well and overall filled with negative influences while trying to be hip. Personally I didn't much care for any of the characters nor the overall direction of the picture so it really was of no value to me.

I watched the first one on Netflix. I love superhero movies and comic books, so wanted to see what this was about. Lots of bad language, extreme violence, and everything else you mentioned above. I think the basic storyline comes down to an an ordinary guy wanting to make a difference. The story and portrayal of being a hero has some good points, but it is spoiled for me due to the the other elements that make it distasteful for Christian and Famiy viewers. I don't have plans to see the second one for these reasons.

this is the sort of movie you watch for the first time and think, "wow, I did not expect that." second time around, it's just stale.

second one has much more graphic violence and possibly a rape, so if you are not into full on violence, you might want to take a step back and rethink your choices here. second comic book is known for zero story and complete shock value. i will watch it for chloe grace moretz.

From what I understand Jim Carey no longer wants to be associated with the movie because he didn't realize how gory, full of swearing...etc the movie was after it was edited and "cgi"ed. So if he doesn't like it and hes one that makes dirty movies.... then I guess I won't like it either.

I liked the first, wasn't sure I would. But its a comic book. High violence, cliche characters, good and evil and how they blur together. (as oppose to the Cowboy comics, good is always good and evil is always evil.)

The second I had on a black ball list until Carey denounced it. Carey was very outspoken about guns killing kids. But his movie is about guns killing and kids.
So his hypocritical stance would have kept me away.
But since he denounced the movie, I will see it.

Won't see it with my kids though.
I do expect it to be no where near as good as the first. But I will see it.

Chloe Grace Moretz cute faced girl not afraid to freak the audience out.
Spoiler: (( (Vicious attack scene in Let me in, and in KA1 takes a bullet from her dad for practice.)))

The Hollywood liberals will influence her and she will fit right in with all the other stars that grew up in that world.

I truly would not wish that on any child. I do hope she figures out life outside of the hollywood pseudo-world. (But only very few stars do, even fewer child stars.)

I didn't hear her comments on Carey.

Looking for her comments I found She will be doing a Carrie remake. I think she might challenge Sissy Spacek for the best Carrie.
remakes usually fail, but I think she might be able to do a better job playing the part...Although Spacek was a great Carrie.
