Kent Hovind thinks broccoli was designed by God!

I'm surprised Kent Hovind made the same error Ray Comfort made. Kent even quotes the Wikipedia article on broccoli, only to ignore that the article states broccoli was bred by farmers.
As if his dissertation opening with "Hello, my name is Kent Hovind" didn't reveal his qualifications before...

God bless that man (bro. Kent Hovind) (and also bro. Ray).

God created the plants, see Gen. 1 & 2. So breeding things to get broccoli is not disallowing that God is the Creator of the material with which to work.

I personally like these two:

Seems like this post is meant to discredit the YEC inference by discrediting its proponents. I hope you recognize that Kent Hovind could think he is made out of broccoli and it would in no way damage the YEC inference. In argument we engage the premises and arguments directly. He could be completely ignorant on the explanation of the origin of broccoli and yet be spot on with his argument for YEC.

That said, both Kent and Ray are "Masters" of the Gish gallop. A method of rapid-firing objections that are so numerous as to be unanswerable (AKA argument to verbosity fallacy).

They, as well as Ken Ham, all seem to wear the WWJM (Who Would Jesus Manipulate) bracelet.

These types of fallacious appeals bring shame to Christians and their message.

Jesus was an enormous intellect and didn't need to manipulate his audience with rhetorical tricks to make his points. This is why the best scholars of his day were always getting parts of their anatomy handed to them every time they tried to intellectually berate or misrepresent Jesus' message. He was doing this to the best scholars in all of Israel at age 12!

There may be sound arguments on the YEC side of the discussion, but these three are not the individuals to engage to discover them. Below I highlight the deceptive practices of Ken Ham and Ray Comfort. They are methodological critiques only. I heart-feltedly agree with their belief that Jesus is the only way to salvation. I also believe God is the creator. I think they were mentored poorly and adopted a style popular to Duane Gish and Henry Morris.

He's not spot on. His arguments are outdated and have long since been debunked. He calls himself a Dr for crying out loud.

I love Kent Hovind. Don't love broccoli though lol.
Why do you love him? Is it the fact he calls himself a Dr.? Is it because his recent videos are full of insults? Is it because of his Baptist theology and hatred of Catholics?

Well, to start, I love (agape) all people because they're created in the image of God. But why would I love (phileo) him? Well, I've seen a few debates he was in, and I liked how he didn't back down from atheists, he spoke the truth in love. Also after the debate was over he boldly proclaimed the gospel, gave an "altar call", and people were saved. And may I ask; if you believe his theology is wrong why does it bother you? Is it because you care about him or the people he may affect? If he's full of insults and hates Catholics he's probably not in a good place so shouldn't you pray for him if you know Jesus and he doesn't?

I love the brother, as God loves him.

Brother Kent Hovind understands who made him, and the world, and the things of the world, even Jesus Christ.

He (bro. Kent) also understands that there is a terrible enemy who uses deception to bring people over to his side to war against God, and is an info-war, though he (satan) was once a noble being, created to be pure, loving, kind, and ministering. The book of Daniel and Revelation (among many other books of scripture) discusses this very real cosmic war, with real super-intelligent beings involved:

Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Heaven is a real place, that the Son of God came from and went back to. The enemy of all beings, satan (once named Lucifer) was thrown out of the place called Heaven, but was not to be immediately destroyed, for there were questions raised about the character and government of God (who rules all the physical universe).

The scripture speaks about these very real beings, and real unfallen worlds that refused the invitation of satan to join his side of rebellion against the government of God, but when God created this world, he (satan) saw his opportunity.

Heaven is not fuzzy clouds and aethereality. It is a place of marvelloous beauty, flowing rivers, trees and emerald green grass that waves in the breezes to the King of all. Creatures/beings of ancient intelligence worship Him who made all things. Lucifer was once the highest and most intelligent of these beings, who understood the character and government of God more than any, being in the presence of God. He eventually turned against God, and now uses all his mastermind to thwart the prophecies of God, the rulership of God, that he might rule, and now uses mankind, through deception, deceit, bribery to make their war against God, and it has been ongoing for 6000 years, and soon to come to its end.

These beings are real, and they have been seen even from the beginning unto this day. They walk among you, mostly unseen, in the guise of men and have even been in the halls of justice and governments, or invisibly recording, watching, planning.

There are two sides. There is not a third. All who war against the Just and Merciful God of heaven, who is Love, actually commit the highest crime, treason, betrayal of love. They use all their intellect to resist the God who gave them intellect. They use their might to war against God who gave them their might. They use their whole being to war against the God who gave them being.

Most, have willingly received the lies of satan, so that they might live how they please, just a moment longer, even though how they live, is destroying themselves.

God, in mercy, has offered pardon, to all, in Christ Jesus, that they may know that they do not have to fear death, for it has been overcome in Jesus, they can have peace with the God of Heaven, and be forgiven of their rebellion, treason and sin against the God who did them never any wrong.

The unfallen worlds and the beings therein are watching. What decision will you make in regards the offer that God has graciously made you in Christ Jesus? If you choose to turn from the offer, what disgust and contempt and sorrow will they have for one who slaps away such an offer, that cost such an eternal sacrifice as was given? The sentence of death is upon all who have rebelled (since they turn from Life itself), but eternal Life is offered in Christ Jesus, to all who call upon His name and repent unto God, and those who refuse the offer, refuse their only way out of the execution that is coming. God cannot allow sin to exist forever. He is long-suffering, not endlessly suffering. God is love, and love must execute justice, for it is in mercy that the wicked must perish. Their misery must come to end, not only for them, but for those who no longer desire sin.

I can show you from scripture these things, the unfallen worlds, the unfallen beings who watch and are among you, and I can show you what Heaven is really like. I can also show you what will happen to those who refuse the offer in Christ Jesus - they will perish in destruction, and be no more, forever, for this world is about to be filled with fire and no trace of sin shall escape.

Hatred of Catholicism (theology) is not hatred of catholics (persons/beings). The first is a belief, the other is a person/being. They are not synonymous.

I love him, because he is faithful in what he knows, though not always correct in what he says (ie see the program on CDE 'Cats'). For instance, the 4th commandment (Exo. 20:8-11) the 7th day the Sabbath of the Lord is required as a commandment of God.

Why would it matter what he calls himself? Many call themselves doctor, or get degrees from other men, what makes them any different? Are there superior men to receive acclaim from, to receive a piece of paper from? He also says, people can call him what they will, "Mr.", "Bubba" and "Hey you". If you do not like his 'paper' over others 'paper' (ala Scarecrow from Wiz.ofOz), then don't call him "Dr.". Personally I think Dr. Dino sounds neat, but also I like just plain bro. Kent Hovind.

As for insult, you would have to be more specific. I know bro. Kent Hovind, uses the word "stupid" in regards the idea of the 'ToE' (Theory of Evol.), and what other word ought he to use? Have you read of Elijah that mocked the false prophets (teaching a false science (knowledge)) of Baal?

If you do not like such a word being used, ignore it, since it doesn't negate the remaining evidences and reasons brought forward. Daily, I have to ignore the filthy mouths (as mine used to be) of the reprobate, and lay waste to their reasons, not their insults.

For instance, if one were to read any of Peter Ruckman's material, he is very caustic, but it doesn't negate his historical evidences, etc, though he may not always be correct theologically. People focused upon the man, and his caustic mannerism, rather than on the evidences of manuscripts, etc.

The video I linked is full of him using insults. His PhD is a fake. Degrees and diplomas do mean something. If you think having a PhD in biology from an accredited university is no big deal, why don't you go get one. Or better yet, why doesn't Kent Hovind get one?

The fact he spent money on one from a diploma mill operating out of a trailer shows he wants to pretend he's something he's not.

The video I linked is full of him using insults.
You are not identifying what you think is an 'insult' in the said video material. Cite the comments with time indexes please. Be specific. I cannot stand generalities like that, especially when dealing with accusation, or Ad Hominem.

I have seen pretty much all of his videos, sometimes multiple times. He and they which are present (behind the scenes) sound like they are having a good time, and there is much love there.

His PhD is a fake.
*sigh*, explain. Did Kent ever say he was a PhD'ed Botanist? Chemist? Paleontologist? Archeologist? etc?

Degrees and diplomas do mean something.
Not so much to me. I do have several diplomas and a degree, from secular schooling, but that is not relevant.

Degrees are simply purchased letters of approval by some comittee that decided so many 'hours' in a class/lab etc is warrant for notoriety or assumed understanding in any given field/area. Some peoples degrees, if looked into, are based in C's and D's. Simply fulfilling the 'hours' does not mean one is proficient in any area of knowledge, it simply means one put in 'time' and 'money'.

Do I discount actual knowledge, and people that learned? No, but I also don't need to know they have a degree. I listen to evidence, facts, proofs, etc. I don't listen to 'paper' degrees, no matter who has them. I know certain (old-earth) creationist with degrees that are wrong in their conclusions, and some things deal with geology. I listen for facts, truth, evidences.

For instance, people 'graduate' from highschool and college all of the time, but that does not mean that they are proficient in any knowledge, even if they have straight A's. The school system is pretty flawed in this area.

If you think having a PhD in biology from an accredited university is no big deal, why don't you go get one.
I do not think it primarily any big deal. I think most practical 'biology' (which absolutely defies abiogensis, since life does not ever arise from non-life, but all evidence points to is biogenesis) can be learned as a naturalist (one who studies nature, as God having accomplished these things, and in the light of sin).

Or better yet, why doesn't Kent Hovind get one?
bro. Kent Hovind has found and is studying the most important science there is. The science of all sciences. The science of Redemption. Shall I share on this? For instance:

Have you ever heard, "The Bible is NOT a science book!!!!1!"?

No, the Bible is 'the science book'.

It contains all real knowledge and the science of all sciences, the science of Calvary, the science of salvation, the light of which, illuminates all other sciences. The scientific method is found at Calvary.

The Bible is also not a history book, but it is 'the history book', in which is the history to understand all histories, for it contains the life of the one true history of Jesus Christ, whom every man or woman ought to know for themselves.

Kent Hovind spreads misinformation ...
I have not met a human being yet (except Christ Jesus) that does not 'spread misinformation' in some form or another. All humanity has at some point spread misinformation, knowingly or unknowingly. There are things that all of humanity in their indivudal lives have taught, said, etc incorrectly, from childhood to adult. They were misinformed, and misinformed others. This can happen even in simple things, such as relating the 'time' (hour, day, month, year) to someone else. People write wrong dates, etc. This just a simple example. Can you not think of anything in your own life which you propagated which was misinformation, ie wrong? I can think of plenty in mine.

Also, can we be specific in regards bro. Kent Hovind, and the 'misinformation'? Are you referring to something in general, or in the video provided?

and hatred.
I have not seen that, and it is also subjective.

Please be specific in regards what you mean by "hatred", with comment and time index from the video.

Also if one is a materialist, what is "hatred"? 'Actions' and 'reactions' 'are' in such a world, they do not carry 'moral' quality. A meteorite that slams into the moon, having many elements of itself, in a matrix, was it 'angry', 'bitter at life', have a 'death-wish'? Perhaps it had 'suicidal tendencies', and needed to make a phone call home?

He gives Christianity a bad name.
I disagree (obviously). Again, you are making a subjective claim.

He even worked with Jack Chick for crying out loud.
Ok? I like Jack Chick tracts, I think they are thought provoking, and I really like David W. Daniels. I do not necessarily agree with everything, even theologically, but I do not hate them, though I would see even their mistakes in theological things corrected (hellfire/state of the dead, sabbath, etc).

Genesis 1-11 isn't science. It's a myth. The word myth sounds derogatory, but think of it like one of Jesus' parables.
I'm also not a big fan of Kent Hovind's heretical beliefs. I'm not too fond of cultist KJV onlyist Baptists.

Oh wow, you like Jack Chick. It's really sad you believe in the KJV onlyist movement, as well as Baptist theology.
Baptists didn't exist in the 1st century, yet Christians did. Feel free to explore what original Christianity is.

Imagine that, I like some people, even you.

Most people incorrectly define "KJO" as a strawman or caricaturize to proportions non-existent, and assault those erroneous, rather than what is actually believed about the preserved words of God in the English language (Psa. 12:6-7; Deut. 8:3; Matt. 4:4; Luk. 4:4; Matt. 24:35; Mar. 13:31; Luk. 21:33, etc), but I do not intend, at present, to discuss it, since it really is not the topic.

I am not a 'baptist' (since they carry errors in theology, which actually stem from Roman Catholicism's theology, example's upon request).

I am a true Seventh-day Adventist (Gen. 1:1-2:3; Exo. 20:8-11, 31:12-18; Isa. 56:1-8, 58:13, 66:22-23; Luk. 4:14-19; Heb. 4:1-13; Rev. 1:10, 10:1-11, 12:17, 14:6-12), by the grace of God.

As for what Christianity believed from the beginning, see this thread (and all the citations therein, with more forthcoming) - https://www.christianforums.com/thr...7-days-of-genesis-psa-90-4-2-pet-3-8.8079019/

Kent Hovind clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. Why don't you people see that? His dissertation is from a mobile home and starts with "Hello, my name is Kent Hovind".
@Uber Genius is correct in his critique. The above is an example of an ad hominem. Meaning you are attacking the man Kent Hovind and not the position that Kent Hovind takes. Meaning your comment is irrelevant to the discussion.

For example.
Person A asserts, "2+2=5"
Person B: "You're a gunky head"

At no point did Person B try to engage the assertion rather Person B resorted to name calling. Person A might actually be a gunky head but the response did nothing to disprove what Person A actually asserted.
