  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are your opinions on rapper Kendrick Lamar? I keep hearing or reading that he is a good artist. I am obviously new to much of the music scene. He was on the cover of a major magazine and he was touted as a talented artist. I guess he has talent, but I can't see it. Maybe I should give the guy another chance. What songs would you recommend for me to listen to?

Praise God, i'm satisifed.

His most recent album 'To Pimp a Butterfly' is fairly progressive (especially for the mainstream) as far as Hip-Hop is concerned. It's musically eclectic, he challenging his peers on a social level, he does a pretty good job at bearing his heart in honesty, and he changes up his vocal delivery style depending on the lyrical context.

I find him a somewhat interesting artist, but for moral reasons I object to the majority of his music.
In his own words: he is the biggest hypocrite of 2015. He references Jesus and being a sinner and needing to elevate himself (and challenges others to elevate themselves), but then he stays wrapped up in foolishness and sin.

This is one of his more appropriate songs (from his first album):
