  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

8-24-19 Keeping His Commands. I might have posted the below before, but I did check to share again.

This old sin nature that we all have tends to resist commands from anyone-even God. We need to stop and realize that the commands of the God of the universe are not given to prove who is boss-they are given to show us the way to go and the way not to go-the way that leads successful Christian lives.

If our heaven Father did not care, I think, He would surely let us go our own way without any direction or guidance. But He does care-through His commands in scripture and direction he gives for our individual lives, we can be joyful and successful in life.

However, just knowing about God and His commands does not give us the incentive to overcome our old sin nature and obey the commands of our Lord. We need a heartfelt desire to obey and that is exactly what is happening if you are receiving God's love.

When we receive His love, we receive Him because "He is love" and the presence of Jesus becomes very real and we want to love Him back. The communication made possible by His very real presence and our reverential awe of Him, makes it possible to return His love. By understanding that it pleases Him for us to obey the commands that He has given so lovingly.

Love always, Walter

Hey Walter, I've got good news for you!
We have been given a way to kill the "old sin nature", and every other thing from our past lives that is foreign to Godliness.
A way to be reborn of Godly seed that cannot bear evil fruit.
A way to have a divine nature.
The way?
Baptism into Christ and into His death, burial, and resurrection. (Rom 6:3-7)
The results are spelled out in verse 7..."For he that is dead is freed from sin."
Of course, baptism without a real "turn from" sin is just a bath: and the first reward for repentance and baptism is the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)

My old sin nature was killed 15 years ago, thanks be to God.

I know it is best to continue in His sayings.
