  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My older son was born in July ... he lived in only a diaper or a diaper and onesie through about October. I would just keep him undressed (or very lightly dressed in all cotton) to help him keep cool. If he felt hot (or the times when he got prickly heat rash), I'd get a washcloth tepid (not too cold ... just comfortable) and wipe his neck, arms, and legs. And, make sure he is taking in plenty of fluids ... I bf both babes, but I wonder if with formula you can add a little extra water to the bottle just to get them a little more fluid? (Someone on here with experience help. :))

Really, a onesie would be fine, and actually they say a good rule of thumb is to dress your baby in one more layer than you're wearing....so say, even socks and a onesie even if it's warm.

I think the reason they say this is because babies burn energy trying to keep warm when their bodies should be working on just growing, does that make sense? The only reason I know this was because Andie was born at a low birth rate & we had to keep her bundled up all the time so she wouldn't burn excess energy on keeping warm, it would all go to growing & gaining weight!

As for giving extra water...you can do that later, but I don't think you're supposed to at a month old...but ask your ped if you have any questions.

A tepid bath is a good idea, too, if he feels hot to you...
