Turns out that many of us were correct. This is starting to unravel as one big 'wrap up smear'.

So why not have that “scrutiny” before the confirmation took place...?

The whole thing was a mess. The Democrats held this information back until the last moment, though they had provided a lie detector test for the main accuser more than a month before the story broke. That tends to refute the claim they were respecting the accuser's privacy. Why go through the effort if they were not going to use her as a weapon? They in effect made a complete investigation very difficult. Then there were a couple of late "me too"ers but as we see at least one of those was false. I do think that the Democrats timed their release to make the timing what it was. Even though the claims failed they managed to motivate their base to get more Democrats out for the election. It also motivated some Republicans as well.

I am not a fan of what is called an "October surprise". Our elections are always held in very early November. Democrats especially tend to try to reveal something bad about the Republican candidate at the last minute.

They did - even though the Dems sat on information for months.

The woman who said she lied was not one of the three who'd come forward before Kavanaugh's confirmation

She was someone who wrote an anonymous letter and later claimed she lied.

Her dishonesty does not reflect on the honesty of Dr. Ford, Debra Ramirez, or Avenatti's client. She had nothing to do with them.

Nor does Kavanaugh's confirmation reflect on the honesty or dishonesty of those accusers. The FBI was not allowed to do a sufficient investigation, and only 7% of Kavanaugh's papers were shared with the Senate before the vote.

Truthfully, I believe that the Republicans who voted for Kavanaugh's confirmation would have done so no matter what evidence had been found against him. Similarly, the Democrats would have voted against Kavanaugh because of his judicial philosophy, even if there was sufficient evidence to authoritatively declare him innocent.

I sincerely, and full heartedly believe the entire dog and pony show is rife with false accusations, and lies, construed by the Democrats in office, to keep Kavanaugh off the bench. I would love the see an investigation of the entire hearing process.

Goes for both sides though. Trump did it to Hillary...

Ummmm...they’ve found ONE woman who made false allegations....

Ummm....that's one more than has been proven true.

One of the big problems here is that not only was it proven false....but she admitted that she made the allegation to push a political agenda.

That would be bad enough on its own, but when Kavanaugh and other Republicans claimed that these allegations were falsified to push a political agenda, and Kavanaugh was the victim, he was mocked and laughed at by Democrats. They claimed that his reaction to these allegations proved he wasn't suitable for the SCOTUS.

I'd say that at the very least, he's owed an apology by a lot of people on the left.

Which should horrify you.
Democrats accused him of being guilty with no evidence. So it's not surprising that they wouldn't care when one of the accusers admits that she lied about the whole thing.

Interestingly, so does Ms Swetnick and her attorney Avenatti...

Be careful what you wish for...
