There's no specific evidence of a crime so there should be no investigation into whether there's any specific evidence of a crime. How very Catch 22.

Somehow I can't see that defense holding up in court.
"Your honour, my client has yet to be convicted of this crime, therefore this whole trial has no basis."

How many times have you been investigated for committing a legal act?

Federal prosecutors are hired and fired for political reasons with most administrations. How many federal prosecutors were fired by the previous administration? Do you recall?

anyway, Rove's face is a crime.
Well, no, but his smug arrogance should be.

If you or I decided to ignore a congressional subpeona, they'd throw our backsides in jail. Whether or not Rove was involved in improper firings is pretty much not the issue at the moment. He defied a subpeona and snubbed Congress by heading out of the country when he should have had his butt in the chair before the committee. Cuff him and throw him behind bars. He's not above the law.

It's called the separation of powers. Again, what is the goal of Congress in issuing the subpoena. What would they do with the information?

I seem to remember that all the Conservatives (read Republican) sure believed that the Clintons should be turning over all the documents in the investigation of the Whitewater matter. They believed the Clintons and the Executive branch should be punished to the full extent of the law for disobeying the law and refusing to turn over the subpoenaed material. Talk about flip flops in belief. Let me turn the question back to you on this. What was the Republicans goal in inssuing the subpoenas in the Whitewater matter? What were they planning on doing with the information? I bet we both know the answer to that one.

In fact, the Republican Congress tried to impeach Clinton, in case you forget. Evidently, at that time, Republicans thought Congress had the right to impeach and remove those of the Executive branch. Evidently that only applies if the Republicans are in control and a Democrat is in the White House.

Whitewater had nothing to do with adminstation of government affairs so executive privilege did not apply

The Republican Copngress didn't try to impeach Clinton, they DID impeach him. He is the only elected president in American history to be impeached, and he was impeached for actual crimes. No such crimes have been determined to have been committed by Rove

Clinton lies for gettin a you know what; Nixon stole people's private info....which ones worse? Hmmmm......anyway, besides the point....

either Rove or Cheney need to play the Penguin in the next Batman movie. Or Phillip Seymore Hoffman....

though I think Cheney could act it to perfection, without even acting! lol

How did the impeachment go? Was Clinton found guilty? I don't remember, but I am sure you do.

Clinton was indeed guilty and was penalized by a court of law and he was successfully impeached. In Rove's case, there is no crime, only a witch hunt

He is the only elected president to be impeached. You might want to check your history books

that's not what you said in your other post. you said he was the only president ever impeached. that's not true. you know this, or you wouldn't have amended your post to include the word "elected". why not say, you're right. my bad. why always a fight, mach?
