Now that you are saved, the first step is realizing that things you used to do are wrong - and you're at that point already. The Holy Spirit will begin to show you things to avoid, and you should pray that your desire to do those things will be taken away. Before too long, you'll find that happening. If you truly want to not want to do those things, you'll find the desire lessening.

That doesn't mean you won't still slip up and do the wrong thing sometimes. Sin still exists in our lives. The difference is that we don't want to sin anymore, and we're sorry when we do.

It's wonderful that you just became a Christian. Things will come slowly for a while, but if you read your Bible and keep praying, you will start to see changes in your life. :hug:

Welcome to the family of God. I pray that the Lord blesses you in many ways. The best thing you can do is pray , talk to your heavenly father. Read the word , learning the bible is the key to figuring out what God has planned for you. God has plans for everyone that seeks Him.
Listen to more positive music (worship music) or good christian rock . I dont know what kind of music you like. But there are alot of great christian bands out there. Get involved in a bible teaching church. And find some good Christian people you can fellowship with. The more you involve yourself in the things above ( especially praying , Worship and reading the bible) the easier it is to overcome the things that are wrong in your life. May the Lord guide you.

How wonderful to see you are responding to the Holy Spirit's leading about a life of purity.

A three-word answer to your question: RELY ON GOD. Now, if you want the lengthy version, here it is:
You know how you made the decision to rely on Christ alone to pay for all your sins and to get you to Heaven one day, without relying on your own good works or promises? When we are saved, we are Christians. Then we are faced with the choice of whether or not to accept Christ's Lordship in our lives. If we do, we are called disciples.​

Guess what? we are to rely on God for the power to live a victorious Christian life, just like we relied on Him to get us to Heaven. Our job is simply to cooperate as He leads and guides us. So get to know Him, His Word, and mature fruit-bearing Christians. Prayerfully read Romans 7 and 8. And then notice again the promise of God's love at the end of Romans 8.

His love is unconditional. But He tells us to lead lives of purity. (He encourages us and gives us His Holy Spirit to live in us and guide and strengthen us, and if we continue in some sin He will lovingly discipline us for our own good.) His Word tells us to put off sin and put on purity. We can't just leave a vacuum.
Rom 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- this is your spiritual act of worship.
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV)


We are tempted to sin by the world, the flesh, or the devil. As someone has already quoted, God will give us a way of escape. It's up to us to take it. In addition, if we have given the devil a stronghold, so that repeated sin (even prior to being a Christian) has become a compulsion that is out of control, then a Christian recovery group can be a tremendous help. They are simply discipleship in depth, and are helpful to any Christian. Also, a couple of books that I recommend for extra reading for new Christians are Hannah W. Smith's "The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life" and Brother Lawrence's "The Practice of the Presence of God" (in the book, it's obvious he was relying on Christ to save him - the book is about focusing on God). Also, "They Found the Secret" (putting off and putting on, letting go and letting God).

Our focus is so important:
Heb 12:1-3
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
(NIV)
Phil 4:4-9
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things.
9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

And look at this wonderful promise about the Bible:


Isa 55:10-11 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (NIV)
Dear friend, God always has your best interests at heart, no matter what circumstances indicate. Look at this:
Jer 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
(NIV) [Sincerely seek]


I know this is a lengthy answer, but all these things combine to keep you from sin. One last promise (my life verse):

Phil 1:6 ... being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (NIV) (24/7)

Phil 1v6 read it.....God doesnt put anything in front of your path that you cant overcome!He has a plan for all and the great thing is that He is going to be there all the way to guide you.I believe whatever it is you trying to overcome you have to face it and tackle it head to head, dont beat around the bush!Ask God to come with you and ask him to overcome this issue with you!

Christianity is a slow jog not a sprint so dont become over-eager to get evrything right. By all means srtive to be more like Christ eachday, but a new born baby doesnt start walking as soon as it is born!

All i can say is pray my brother and HAVE FAITH!

First I would like to say hi and welcome to the family I am very glad that you are apart and one of us untied together with Christ.If you have done something that you know know isn't right ask God to forgive you(which is something that is good to do through out the day not just in the morning and no just at night) After you ask for forgiveness you try to stop doing or saying what in your or God's eyes as wrong. Ask him each day to help you overcome it.Somethings we can't overcome just in an hour or an day somethings you can. Just ask God to elp yu to learn what is of him and what isn't of him and if there is something in your heart ,mind,body,soul, and spirit that is unlike him that he will remove it and also let you know if it isn't of hiim that you will work on it and try to fix it. Welcome to the royal kingdom sister!! :hug:

The first step is to realize the love that God has for you, and the more you realize how much God loves you, the more your love for Him will grow... and as your love for Him grows, you will naturally begin to hate the things which are wrong in your life. The Bible tells us that it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4).

He loves you far more then you could ever imagine! Learn of His love for you, and it will change your life!!!

Ephsians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

Your mind can't comprehend the deep love that your heavenly Father has for you! Did you know that there was a celebration up in heaven among the angels when you accepted Jesus a few days ago?? That's right!!

Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Go read the whole chapter of Luke 15... it speaks of God's forgiving nature and great love for us!!

Isn't God wonderful?? He loves you beyond what your mind can comprehend!! :hug:

Something to keep in mind.....we will always be CHristians in Training until the 2nd coming of Christ. It will take us our whole lives to get it 'right' Don't feel like you have to do everything at once. It is really hard at first when the veil is lifted and we see all that we have done that is wrong. Just start working on the things you think you can handle. God will keep showing you. It will get easier and easier. You will desire the better of things and soon those things that used to be so imporant won't seem so imporant. Just remember...its a LIFELONG journey.....God is with you every step of the way! Welcome to our family! Remember something else! Now that you are saved...you are forgiven, accepted and loved!

Hello and welcome,
I am so glad someone so young has come to the Lord. When I was your age I saw the Lord but still was not saved! His eyes are love mercy combined.
There are people in the bible called 'overcomers' and to become one of them you need to have faith in Jesus' Blood. That simply means His Blood was shed on the Cross to save and purify sinners so they could be 'overcomers'. If you put your faith in what Jesus did for you, TearsSeenByGod, before you even existed then you must know Jesus shed more tears for you than you have for yourself. In fact those who know the Bible know he could be called 'Tears of Blood'.

When you mess up don't put yourself down but tell Jesus. Don't turn away if you think you are not good enough because he would be greatly dissappointed. Read his word, the bible, every day and it will build up your spiritual strength. You will also get stronger by going to church, especially prayer meetings and bible studies and by asking God that he would give you power that would last beyond this world. Also ask God for a spiritual friend.
