• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi everyone! I am a survivor of abuse. I was abused by my earthly father as a child, and then when I sought Christian Counseling for help in healing from my childhood abuse, I went to the Pastor of the church I was attending at the time. I fell hook, line and sinker for a wolf in sheep's clothing...this "Pastor" who was 20 years older than me gained my trust and then sexually abused me. I was in a very vunerable place as I was a new Christian, a very young woman and struggling with deep depression...

I am still healing from the abuse and just want to share some thoughts with all of you...

Lions attack sick, young, or straggling animals; they choose victims who are alone or not alert. God's word warns us to watch out for the enemy when we are suffering or being persecuted. Feeling alone, weak, helpless and cut off from others- we sometimes forget to watch for danger, we are especially vulnerable to the enemy's attacks when we aren't looking. During times of suffering, I have to remind myself to keep my eyes on Christ and resist the devil (no matter how appealing and "religious" one of his messengers may appear to be).

Just some of my thoughts this morning...loving all other survivors in the Lord!
Remember to resist the devil and he will flee from you... :groupray:

Shazabella-

God bless you for your reply. In many ways I admire your strength at your age (19?...I'm 34 and learning how to be a survivor) to be a survivor (not a victim) of child abuse and rape. You definately are a child of God!

Thank you for your welcoming post and I look forward to seeing you on the boards!

Hun its always hard becoming a survivor of abuse,i was abused sexually and physically when i was young, and then i meet my husbend who did the same. But ive learned from help of my friends to look in the present times and not the past and i look in the future for my kids. And i also go by my motto:The Lord holds me in his right hand and my problems in His left.So why shouldnt i be happy??.And its true why shouldnt we be happy with the Lord with us at all times, even when it seems hes not thier he is.Well you have my blessings and i will put you on our church prayer board ;) .Good luck  .

Blessed be,
Katie

Hiya Blondie! I'm sorry for what you have been through, no one should have to go through that, no one shuold have to go through any of this, but, it happens, and God has his plans with it! He uses the hurt and broken to reach out to others, and to heal them and bring them to him! so, good will come out of it, even though it's really really hard!
God bless and it's nice to meet you!

Showing love and thereby establishing good relationships with people can be very healing. Love rebuilds us. Receiving it is great, but it works when we give it to others as well. That allows God's love to be expressed through us and we get the overflow from that.
