• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Cutting doesn't mean you're a bad person.
Stopping doesn't make you a fake.
Continuing doesn't mean you're weak.

I read this months ago on a SI forum. I have been thinking about it a lot lately and I just thought I would post it here for you all. It made me tear up a bit.

*hugs everyone*

My Precious Little Sister Bethany,

A few days ago, I read the following Bible passage:

(Disciples asked Jesus) Lord, teach us to pray....
(Jesus answered) Father, hallowed by your name......

The disciples didn't know how to pray because the Holy Spirit hadn't come yet.

Do you pray? I am sure you do. If you have ever prayed even once as follows,

Our Father who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth as is in heaven
give us this day our daily bread
forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
lead us not into temptation
and deliver us from evil
for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory.
Amen.

you are more privileged than all the Israelites before Jesus' days. The Holy Spirit stayed with only a few chosen ones so that they could pray. Who were the chosen ones? Who does the Bible record prayed? Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Elijah, Jonah, Mary, Elizabeth (John the Baptist's mother).

Do you know what the Israelites did in the desert when they ran out of food and water? Did they pray to God to give food? No, they didn't. They couldn't. They had to go to Moses, and Moses prayed for food and water.

How many prayed according to the Bible? Less than 100. Yes, you are as privileged as Moses and Elijah.
Do not forget how much you are favored by God.

Rupert
