  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

...and thought I'd celebrate with my own thread! I'm really excited. I've been dating the girl for two and a half years. I met her at a bible camp, so to propose, I took her to her favorite restaurant the night before, then we stayed in a jacuzzi suite in a hotel in a city near the bible camp where we met overnight. The next day, my brother drove out to the camp, decorated the chapel with flowers, rose petals, and candles, and set up my guitar and two chairs. I drove her out to the camp after checking out of the hotel and we went to the chapel and I sang her a song I wrote for her as the question. At the end of the song, I pulled out the ring, which my brother had taped to the neck of the guitar and asked if she would marry me.

I'm really excited!

YAY! Congratulations. Do you think she suspected your "treachery"? When my best friend proposed, his girlfriend *knew* what he was going to do. Dratted feminine intuition. :p

Wishing you the best of luck. If you ever have a hard time, look me up (I'm easy enough to find, thanks to Google) and feel free to write; I can't promise to give good advice, but I can promise to care.

Congrats on getting married, and I hate to be a pain, but why were you staying in a hotel together when you're not married?

So only married people can stay in hotels together?  Staying in hotels is one of her favorite things to do, so I included it in the proposal.  I do not understand the problem.

When I see people staying in a hotel room together, I automatically assume they're sleeping together. I'm not saying you were, but it doesn't look good...I'm not trying to condem, honest.

This is a touchy subject. Let's try and not digress from the cheerful atmosphere of this thread.
But you do need to consider what Cammie is saying. Here's why, I've found that problems go looking for you. You don't have to do anything wrong to get into a problem. Trouble does it all for you. People will clean house on a situation that looks bad. That sucks. It's not right.
When I was younger I would have no problem telling them to go jump off a cliff. But now that I'm a little older I am learning that there is something to "Avoiding the appearance of evil."
So ponder that.

You'll like marriage. I'm working on my 5th year. I shouldn't call it work though. It's awesome. I love being married. If you ever wanna talk about marriage I'm right here.

Caley, Congrats...

But do be careful with the whole "sleeping together" thing. Just like cammie said, you want to make sure that your character is not scared. And people will and do talk. You know your limitations...

God Bless and hope that everything works out great. O one quick thing. The week of the wedding, stay away from your fiance'. Don't take anything she says or does that week personally as well.

If this were a thread where you were asking my opinion on morals and where to draw lines and things such as that, I would be putting my two cents in. However, this is a thread celebrating your engagement! Congrats!!!! I'm not married (not ready for that!!) but I know that a Godly marriage is one of, if not THE, best things on earth! It sounds like the two of you are off to a great start, and I'm excited for you! Keep us up-to-date on the plans!!!

In Him,
Anna

um......i slept with my future husband for 5 months....cuz he didn't have another place to stay because he was from a different state, we didn't have the money to marry and move him, and I couldn't pay rent and food for both of us by myself so....we were more like roommates,,,,,just sort of in the same bed....................and trust me with the little hole in the wall apartment I had back then......lets just say temptations were high....but hey I was still pure on my wedding day :o)
