I've been wondering the same thing about rep points. If they don't do anything is there really any point in having them.

Also question: Why do you rep people, or bless them? What makes you want to give someone blessings or rep points? Just curious.

Well as for myself, I don't really give out rep points. At least I haven't so far, though I suppose eventually some message may totally blow me away some day. They don't really mean much because you cannot tell from looking at another person's "reputation" who did the repping. As for blessings, I just give those out whilly nilly on whim to whoever catches my fancy at the time. I suppose I should save up for one of those silly items.

Well they're explained fairly well in the FAQ tab on your huge list of links up top, but basically, blessings are things you get for various reasons (like posting msgs) and that you can give to people or use for various other things (like to make a custom avatar [the picture to the right (in my case a chummy ferret w/ a hat.)] Reputation on the other hand is something you can also give AND take away from another person, but it is not readily exchangeable for any goods or services. Capitalism frowns on reputation.
