I have to tell you all something. Last night I was on MSN with some friends from here when I got a PM from CPman saying a girl was threatening suicide on the teen forum. My friends and I prayed for her while on-line, 4 people from 3 different countries praying and agreeing together. It was awesome. God works in mysterious ways. He had it all planned out that we were talking at the time this young person needed help. With the internet we are one giant family. Praise God!

I hope the girls okay, from personall Experince I know suicide aint the answer.

I hope she is too. Most people that are going to committ suicide do it without telling anyone or alerting them. This is a cry for help and we as christians can pray.

Hi all!

Just checking in. I'm having another I-want-to-find-a-cave-and-crawl-in-it-and-hide kind of day. A Palestinian suicide-terrorist blew himself up on a crowded city bus at 08:30 this morning not far from my office, murdering 7 people and injuring around 60 (some of whom are in critical condition).

Hi all.

My day is getting worse. A grocer whose store I've been patronizing at least once a week for the past 10.5 years (the grocery is around the corner from my office & I've been at my present job for that long) to buy yogurt, Persian bread, etc., was butchered on that bus this morning. I will have to pay a shiva call (see http://www.jewfaq.org/death.htm). I've felt on the verge of tears for most of the day. Tomorrow is the first day of the Hebrew month, in this case the month of Adar. As the first of the (lunar) month, the day (the "new moon" referred to in the Torah) is a minor holyday & has a semi-festive character (see http://www.jewfaq.org/chodesh.htm). Tomorrow morning's prayers include Psalm 118:24.

This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

How can we say this with a whole heart when there is so much evil and wickedness in the world? It's like Matthew Arnold wrote in Dover Beach:

The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear

I read about this tragedy on one of the news links on google search engine earlier today. I am very sorry that you lost a friend and there were so many others lives that were taken from people who love them dearly. I will keep you and and your city in my prayers.

Ya know.. Prayer does some amazing things.... I dont know if i ever said anything about this.. but back in July after thinking i was losing a family close to me..... I tryed to end my life. If it werent for a friend listening to the HolySpirit telling her to pray for me I wouldnt be here.. i have no doubt about that....prayer got me delivered from suicide and depresion back in november....... it is our duty as christians to pray.... and intercede for those that are hurting and may be lost.... you never really know if a suicide threat is real or not..for soem people..... the way i look at it is each threat has gotten to be taken seriously to a point...you just never know.. your prayers or interactions..... may save someone's life through the grace of God...... lol ok now that ive said all that... I just wanted to check in and say hi... things are crazy here but God is victorious! Love to all! ill be around promise!

Hi all!

It's 22:30 here, I'm online doing some work from home. I thank you all for your kind words & your prayers. I want to say that I feel better but I really don't (no offense!), I'm still in a deep blue funk. I saw my grocer friend's picture in all the papers & on the web (http://www.israel-mfa.gov.il/mfa/go.asp?MFAH0of10) and felt on the verge of tears again every time I did. I'm counting on the big family wedding we're going to (God willing) this coming Thursday evening to snap me out of it. It's good that I'll have to drive myself, Wendy & Da Boyz home afterward because I'd probably drink myself into oblivion otherwise; maybe then I could forget all this rottenness for a while. I read where some Islamic extremist terrorist from Gaza a while back said the following: "The Jews love life more than any other people; therefore, we will overwhelm them with death." He's wrong, of course. My people have seen his kind come and go in the last 3,000+ years but every time something like what happened yesterday happens, it's as if something inside of me is blighted and it takes me a while to purge it from my system. What actually helped a little was Naor (all of 3-years-old) coming up to me and giving me a slurpy kiss & then running his hands over my (just trimmed) beard. I told him that he would have hair like that on his face one day. He thought that was hilarious & just laughed. But then I thought of my grocer friend & how his 10-year-old son will never see him again (and of the emergency room physician & his daughter who were blown to pieces in a Jerusalem cafe last August on the night before her wedding). I'm counting on Thursday's wedding to help purge this blight from my system.
