About those braids... she does get alot of compliments on them and on the other hand alot of stares...but she dont care if people stare...she is confident enough to carry a crazy hairdoo like that. Not that I dont like it, I find it refreshing that she is bold enough to be different.
Fervid Princess...I feel the same way about my little sister. (she's 24) She recently had me weave her hair in big chunks....white blonde, and a very dark red. (Her hairdresser couldn't fit her in.) She's blonde, like me, but she's dyed her hair black, red, light blonde and now this multicolor do. I admire that she isn't afraid to redefine herself...and that she doesn't care what anyone thinks about it. I didn't stop caring about what people thought about me until I turned 40.

I'm turning 25 next month, and though some of you still view that as pretty young, I'm starting to worry about getting old. Never done that before. I feel like it won't be long before I'm not in my youth anymore, and I'm already losing my mind, wait a second, what was I saying???:( :sigh:

 Oh well, we can't stay young forever, plus my mom says they're advantages to getting older, like getting smarter.
Happy birthday next month. I remember feeling that way at 25 too. At 25 I had finished College, had a high paying job in banking, worked an average 70 hour plus week, was married to a jerk, Had had 3 miscarriages and had unfortunately had had a nervous breakdown. So....I don't think 25 is all that young. Well, at least it wasn't for me.

Don't worry about getting old. Worrying is a waste of time. Getting older is great. The older I get the more I like myself and my life. The less I care what people think of me. I love being in my 40's. As long as I'm fortunate enough to not suffer any serious injury or illness....I'm really looking forward to the rest of my life.

Each time, I remembered a line from the 1985 movie Witness in which the old Amish grandfather tells his grandson, "What you take into your hands, you take into your heart." And each time, right after remembering that line (which I think about alot), I burst into tears. When we received Naor, Yohanan saw me start to cry and he asked, "Daddy, why are you crying?" I told him that Daddy was very, very happy that Naor was joining our family and that he (Yohanan) now had a brother, and that I was thanking God as hard as I could.
I loved that movie. It still resonates with me. And I can relate to your feelings about your son. I have a picture of my husband holding our first born. I know they say that a picture is worth a thousand words...but it's not usually true. This picture however captures a gread deal of that emotion. I'm married to a very manly man. He's not one to complain or get upset over anything trivial. The few times he's ever cried I can count on one hand. Our wedding, when each of our 3 children was born, and when his mother had a stroke.

You young people! I'm almost 1/2 of a 100!
Your birthday is November 15th 1958? Mine is November 14th 1962. I didn't know that our birthdays were so close together. Or did I? They say the memory is the first thing to go. :D

Well, I've been painting the inside of my son's closett. I was hoping to get at least that much done so that we could get his cloths put away and his room back together. My husband said he was going to help me. But...looks like he's not. The last time we painted he did this too. He say's "we' when he really means "me". I don't know why I always fall for what people tell me. But I always do. Does anyone else think it's weird to not be jaded at my age? With all the stuff I've dealt with...you would think I would be a complete cynic. Oh well...painting is hard work! My hands are killing me. But at least 1/3 of my work on the wall is done.

I think that's how you can tell you're getting old. In my mind I'm not a whole lot different than I was 20 years ago. A little wiser sure. But I don't think of myself as old. Until I try to do something like paint walls. I remember this stuff being hard when I was in my 20's. But now it is unbelievably hard. And I'm not out of shape...in case you wondered. I run 5 miles a day. And still....I'm wiped out from this painting business.

That is pretty cool! We'll have to have a cyber celebration in November.

Sounds like you're really moving on with the painting - single handedly. I agree with your sentiment, my husband uses the "we" thing a lot too. I'm pretty controlling though so I kinda like being in charge. But you know what that means...you do most of the work.

I hope you have a great rest of the day.

I've been here for just over 17 years (Gad...it's been that long?).

I'll link what you posted about "nerve-wracking times" and another night-time observation I had while on reserve duty. I was in that same guard post I mentioned in my last post in 1997 too. I remember watching a beautiful sunrise over the Jordan Valley. Back in Pittsburgh (my hometown) when my brother (3.5 years younger than me) & I were little kids, we would be afraid to go all the way downstairs first thing in the morning (we were always up before our parents) lest the monsters down there get us. So we'd go as far as the landing on the stairs & then call for Shane. Shane was our big German Shepherd (whom we adored). We'd call for Shane & wait there on the landing until he came to the foot of the stairs, all bleary-eyed & wagging his tail. Then we knew that it was safe to go downstairs (and get cereal & put on the cartoons) because good, good Shane had chased the monsters away. And I thought about this and I looked around and saw that I was armed to the teeth (M-16 with 5 clips, a heavy swivel-mounted machine gun & a box of grenades) on guard against monsters who were all too real. All I could do was remember that time when the only monsters were the ones in two little boys' collective imagination & that could be chased away by our dog. :sigh:

Like Manfred the Mammoth says in Ice Age (I love that film!): Wish granted! (Sorry, I couldn't resist that!)

Yes, absolutely!

You posted about after-the-birth pictures from the hospital. The earliest pictures we have of Da Boyz are on the days that we received them from the Child Welfare Service (which, by law, has sole & exclusive jurisdiction over all domestic adoptions here; all CWS adoptions are closed/blind). We received Yohanan (we gave Da Boyz their names) when he was 4 months & Naor when he was a wee 2.5 weeks.

The machine guns and grenades sound like a very scary thing. My husband and I were just having a talk with our girls at the Dinner table this evening about how lucky we are here in America not to see those sorts of things in our backyards. We were talking about how some countries see death and devastation every day...right in front of their very own eyes. We pray for those people that have to fight for their lives everyday. May God keep them safe.

The story about Shane did bring a big 'ol smile to my face though. The love and loyalty of a good dog like Shane is priceless.

God bless.

I have not read the Jesus Freak books, but I've heard they are good. I love to read! I really like dc Talk. I listen to thier music almost every day. I always play: In the Light, My Will, What if I Stumble and Collide. I also really like Cross Movement. Their music is so well done. It's not the usual christian hip hop cheese pleasers.

What other music do you like?

Most likely...something like :

or...
Caution: You may just post something and make a friend.

It would be nice to hear from more people, but I sure am glad to talk to each and every one of you that have posted here.

BTW...Wisdom Seeker...I like cappuccino, not plain coffee...and I like the cold vanilla coffee sold in bottles. But, I am more of a Pepsi Cola freak...gotta have it.

Does anyone else here like coffee?

I love coffee! I drink a pot to myself in the morning. My husband wont drink it. He feels really jittery if he does. I don't want to waste it and I drink it all. Lately, I've been drinking the Seatles Best-Breakfast Blend. I love it. It's better than Starbucks-not as bitter. It's better than Tim Hortens-stronger than thier mild brew.

Where is the best take out coffee?

how does one place multiple quotes in one post?
quote.gif

This is one way...see the picture up above in the blue? Look up in you rely box, you will see this as the last picture in the second row...you can click that and it will put quote tags in the message body for you

...like this. You type what you want in between those quote tags...hoe that helps.

:)

Okay, there is no blue now that I posted it, and I meant "Look up in you reply box"

[ QUOTE ] [ /QUOTE ] ...write between the tags...wow, I need to go to bed...all my words have missing letters. Anyway, I tried. :D

I noticed Wisdom Seeker has multiple personalized quotes.
There is the circle around the whole quote and additonal information it two upper bubbles. "quote" and"originally posted by"is the text within the bubbles.
I wonder if there is an easy way to do that?

Hi all!

I have come to love Turkish coffee (laced with cardamom!)!

The most unbelievably delicious Turkish coffee (medium-high roast & ground till it's pulverized) is to be had from http://www.nakhleh-coffee.com/english/.

Here are Subhi Nahala's directions for making Turkish coffee:

Boil water in a medium-size finjan (two small cups). Remove from the flame. Add one and a half to two teaspoons of coffee. Set the fire on as low a flame as possible. Put the finjan back on the flame and wait for the foam to disappear. Don't keep shifting the finjan back and forth on and off the flame, simply leave it on the burner above a very low flame.

When the foam disappears, add sugar, stir vigorously and immediately turn off the flame and remove the finjan from the burner.

Never permit the sugar to cook together with the coffee, as it burns and spoils the aroma. There is also a strict prohibition on putting the coffee into
cold water - the water has to boil first in the finjan.

The Hebrew word for dog is kelev. Our Sages ask why that word means that particular animal. Our Sages note that dogs are noted for their loyalty and teach that kelev is actually two words that have been joined together: kulo+lev (i.e. "all heart") = kelev.

See everyone on Sunday! (As an orthodox Jew, the computer is off-limits on Shabbat, i.e. the sabbath, see http://www.jewfaq.org/shabbat.htm.)

Be well!

VOM is The Voice of the Martyrs. It's about the persecuted chuch throughout the world. What we take for granted, Bibles, Church, etc., our brothers and sisters don't have. If you're interested, here is their site: http://www.persecution.com

My DH turned me on to dcTalk. He listens to contemporary music, I'm more of a Southern Gospel girl. I love The Dixie Melody Boys, they are my favorite.
