• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have had some computer problems but back on line now. I was just checking in and wanted to give a little encouragement. When I first started on here 5 or 6 weeks ago, I was near the end of my rope and feeling pretty hopless. Depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. Not knowing what was going on, thinking I had every possible problem (MS, brain tumor, going crazy, etc), googling every symptom and adding fear upon fear and feeding the monster. Dr. to Dr, test after test. (This is necessary to rule out any other medical problem - but once that is done we need to move on).
A lot had happened since then, prayer, accepting the problem, and getting good information about anxiety has brought continual improvement and I am getting better week after week. I still get some symptoms, but no longer fear them. No more panic attacks because I have accepted the diagnoses of anxiety disorder and don't start my worring and fear cycle. I know I have mentioned this, but anyone who suffers from panic/fear/anxiety, please get and read Dr. Claire Weekes "Hope and help for your nerves". The information is priceless. Also the site "Anxiety Centre.com" is loaded with information and support. The public site is limited, but there is a fee for a min 6 month membership which has tremendous information and help. The fee is only the price of a good book and was well worth it as far as I am concerned. I can't beleive how much the Lord helped me through this. I don't know why, but we all have such a hard time accepting simple answers, and most anxiety/stress/depression/panic can be cured if we just accept and practice what works and trust those who have come through it.
:amen: God bless you all, Bob

Hi Bob! I'm so happy to hear that you're doing better! Actually, I can relate 100%! Like you, when I first came on here I was at the end of the line (so I thought). This forum has helped me so much. Also I started reading a book, "A new Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. It basically teaches you to live in the now. Along with that, I also have accepted the anxiety. It's amazing when you stop fearing the symptoms, they slowly start going away. Sure, I still have my "bad" moments. But when I look back, I'm so thankful where I am now. Honestly, this whole anxiety disorder has made me appreciate my life even more. Being in the 'dark' for so long really opened my eyes. I no longer take any moments for granted, especially now that I"m feeling so much better.
God Bless!
