• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, I have BPD, and Bi-polar. LCSWs are qualified to diagnose you. They are therapists, and sometimes are very good at working with people with personality disorders.

Borderline Personality Disorder is not an organic problem. There is nothing in the brain that makes me borderline. It is behavior patterns and thinking patterns that I learned to survive in my chaotic, abusive childhood. Patterns can be unlearned, and take a lot of hard work, which I fought doing for a very long time. The harder I worked the better I did.

I am learning quite a bit about this "disorder". I think the hardest part for me to this point is wanting to be a "real" person. I cannot help but wonder if I will be able to grasp all that needs to be grasped of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy and the other things.

"Although experts know that people with borderline personality disorder have impaired function in parts of the brain, it is still not clear whether the problems are caused by-or are a consequence of-the disorder. " Web MD

I dunno, I didn't as far as I know have an abusive chaotic childhood, not in the classic sense. I think I had a lonely childhood, but I really don't fit the mold there. i guess I just wanted to know if there were any other active members here, where they go to get online help if they do, or if being a Christian has helped them in their struggle.

Thanks for responding.

Being a Christian has given my a guide for my life. It has provided me with women who could guide me in my walk with the Lord, and love me unconditionally. It has provided me with the power of the Holy Spirit to make the often painful changes that I have had to make in my behavior and thinking. It has also provided me with the ability to learn to forgive myself and love myself.
