i have talked with several different priest,(please forgive me if i got the title wrong, they were in charge of the church) and i have always wanted to know why Catholics pray to Mary and the saints, i have only been told it was "tradition", and one of them was kind enough to give me a Catholic bible, not much different than the one i use except for the old testament, there are a few more books there, but why a "hail Mary" and what is it? and how can a priest grant forgiveness? also why do you have to tell a priest your sins? doesnt God know what you are doing? i am not trying to open a debate or anything like that, i am genuinely interested and i have not been able to find the answers, if there is any good information on the web i would love to read it and save it as so i can help explain to other people who ask me. thank you all for your help in advance and God Bless you.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
