Some Christians consider running aisles, and barking like a dog to be a form of worship.

Do you believe people barking like dogs, rolling, running, and jumping are forms of worship?

Y a know, a thought just occurred to me...if you chime in with meows...do they all chase you?

This wouldnt be my style...

This Kind Of Worship Comes From Emotion Not
Reason. I Think Alot Pastors Want Money And
Playing On Emotion Is VERY WRONG.
Oh I'm sure that some Pastors want money, but I'd guarantee they aren't limited to one particular type of church.

I'm also pretty sure that (regardless of how right or wrong they are) most of the Pastors in these churches are sincere in their convictions and have no interest in manipulating people for money.

Peace

I, Like peace sometimes wonder what is behind some comments in these threads. God certainly works outside the box we put Him in.
Let me tell a story about my spiritual walk. I was thrown in with the Holy Ghost crowd soon after I committed my life to Christ in 73..I haven't experienced the barking, but I seen laughter, danceing and people prostrate before the Lord..I also pray, groanings, in the spirit when I can't come up with words.. But, I was always leery of when people laid hands on me to "help" me go down in the Spirit.

I got shown porn when I was a teen and it affected me to the point of being sent away by two wifes..In desperation, I went to a ministry service to rid myself of this oppression in my life. I was out of my seat and the first on up front. The man barely touuched me with the annointing oil and my body was like jello. I was flat on the floor with know one around except the pastor praying for me.. I was gloriously set free that night and have been porn free for 5 years.

I said all this to say not to limit God to doing this or that. Just be open to let God move the way he wants..
Blessings In Christ..Kim

AMEN,
Kim Bless you for that wonderful testimony.
For the most part, I agree with you. We must not stifle the Holy Spirit. However, we must use discernment.
I have witnessed Holy laughter, the gift of tears and yes, even dancing in the Spirit. I have been drunk in the Spirit.
As you know, I am in Leadership in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and have had to step in and stop folks who thought being "free in the Spirit" was running around flapping their arms, thinking they will fly like and Eagle or Dove or whatever.
If someone started making animal sounds, our core team would be in instant prayer and ready to collect order, quickly. I do not think this behavior would be edifying or building up the Body as the Gifts are meant to do. I would question what the fruits are.

Thanks for yor comment Peace..I was more focusing on not being open to those things outside of your comfort zone...Yes, it is VERY important to be discerning, but sometimes it is used broad brush any thing that doesn't "fit" into our boxes..pax..Kim

To me, barking, screaming and running is a little odd and I wonder about it...

Hearty "Amens", clapping, laying of hands and tongue talking fine. As long as it's orderly.

I hate to ask this....but where in either Scripture or Tradition have we been called to act like an animal in order to worship God....He didnt make us animals, so why would we worship as an animal?

And sorry if I offended anyone with my 'quick' wit...et al. I was being facetious and just adding a touch of humor to something I would otherwise not even take seriously.

I still don't take it seriously. And I dont see how adding humor in is bad.

Great posts HisKid and Peaceful.

That's an awesome testimony. Isn't God good

I'm also in agreement with you Peaceful. Order is important and I, like you am often left wondering how some of the behaviour edifies the body.

I'm reminded of one time when I was privileged enough to speak at another church. God did something pretty wonderful that day as tears of repentance flowed readily from the members of the congregation while the Holy Spirit spoke to their hearts. It wasn't uncontrolled sobbing or manipulative carrying on, but genuine, sincere tears of repentance. It really was quite beautiful.

After a little while a couple of girls up the back started lunging and groaning very loudly and abruptly. It was a massive distraction to everyone, so I discretely got the attention of the minister and asked that he take them outside. He said that it was a manifestation of the Spirit and not to worry. I politely assured him that I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, but wondered if they mightn't be able to "manifest" somewhere else. The girls were discretely led outside and the service continued seemlessly. Very few people had any idea I'd requested that they leave and I caught up with the girls later for a chat. They were happy enough, but to this day, I'm still not sure that I handled the situation correctly. I do know that God worked miracles in people's hearts that day though.

I can of course, only comment on the laughter I witnessed. There may be Godly laughter somewhere else.

What Church was that?
It was an Assemblys of God Chruch with Messianic overtones( by that I mean they built a mock wailing wall and when I stopped attending they were starting with shofars.)

The laughter was not the reason I left. It only happened once and that was when they had a guest speaker who was there to talk about it.

Why do you ask?

I quietly sob to myself at Mass. My emotions are not for show. But this doesnt mean that others wont find it hard to control.

But barking like a dog and such....seems demeaning to God.

Oh I agree. The girls I asked to leave didn't seem to be sobbing uncontrollably though. It was more like the barking etc... It was short punctuated groans of "hyah" where their whole body kinda convulsed while they yelled it out. I personally found it quite unsettling.

I am confused Laughter...how does this work>? And what does it sound like?
Just that - laughter: uncontrollable hysterical laughter. It was a big thing that went through a lot of churches a while back. Our church wasn't a part of it, but I saw it a meeting when I was at uni.

I would imagine that would be a strange experience...I have witnessed some holy running/screaming. Very odd.

What's a shofar?
Why do you ask?

Curiousity!

Imagine someone laughing thier loudest for a long time. Then imagine about 20+ people doing it at once. Kind of like a crazy house. One guy jumped up and started running full speed down all the isles.
