  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Everyone,
Isnt there a scripture(s) somewhere in the bible something along the lines of this ; - don't judge anyone let God do all the judging.

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses I just didn't clarity. Im writing a letter to my Aunt and she is acting and talking as if someone died and made her God to start judging people. And I need a scripture that is in line with let god judge and not you type of thing.

Thanks
ChristGrl

Welcome to CF! This may help...

10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. - Romans 14

And there is also this:

John 7:24
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

In some places we are commanded to not judge and other places (like this one) we are commanded TO judge. It takes spiritual discernment to understand which applies in what situation or with which person.

Discernment is very important. If someone is doing outright evil, something has got to be said.

Welcome to the forum Christgrl! You'll find a lot of interesting discussions and a lot of different viewpoints discussed as you spend your time here.

The Bible refers to judging others, but it's a complex subject. First of all, God is the true judge of everything. He alone has the wisdom to judge perfectly, but has delegated that role to others as he sees fit. People often quote Matthew's gospel, where he says, "Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For by the standard you judge you will be judged, and the measure you use will be the measure you receive." However, that doesn't mean that we should not be discerning and advise others. Most important it must be done with love. If we "judge" others it must be with the idea of helping them to be better Christians, living as God intends them to live. If it is judging without love, to "correct" someone without compassion, it is totally wrong.

That is the meaning of the scripture above, which is so often misapplied.

The best thing for family is to live the example you expect to see out of them. When she starts such talk just smile. When she starts talking negative begin talking positive. And I find it helpful to never counter serious talk with serious. When she starts the serious talk sometimes something really goofy is your best bet.
