Your stated position is "free will." I understood @Sam81 's position to be "predestination" (the subject of a different thread).I believe that we can choose to have ourselves written off.
I'm not trying to be a nitpick or change the topic of the thread I just took exception to the phrase that Jesus's blood is wasted. I know he didn't mean to make a theological statement. I probably shouldn't have said anything.
Nope that is called mentoring. That sounds very judgemental.
...which also calls for a type of judgment.Nope that is called mentoring.
Nope that is called mentoring.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,..." Matthew 28:19 NKJVAnd do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.
Agreed...which also calls for a type of judgment.
The Holy Spirit, Himself shall teach you.New King James Version
And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.
I'm a dad. I did a lot of both.Judgement is to say do this, or this will happen. Mentoring is to allow the person to make the right decision. You do this by saying "No!"
(CLV) Mt 7:1
"Do not judge, lest you may be judged,
So many read that verse and stop short; to say that we should exercise judgement, concerning the wicked. That we should just turn a blind eye to wickedness and go off into a day dream singing, "la la la - la la." "I have no responsibility to see the world for what it is." "There is no wrong; there is no right in my eyes. It's all on the Father's hands"
The very next verse:
(CLV) Mt 7:2
for with what judgment you are judging, shall you be judged, and with what measure you are measuring, shall it be measured to you.
YHWH calls us to righteous judgement. This falls in line with what is mentioned just a few verses later:
(CLV) Mt 7:12
All, then, whatever you should be wanting that men should be doing to you, thus you, also, be doing to them, for this is the law and the prophets.
Yahshua doesn't contradict himself.
(CLV) Jn 7:24
Be not judging by the countenance, but be judging just judging."
Again he tells us to judge justly.
(CLV) 1Co 6:3
Are you not aware that we shall be judging messengers, not to mention life's affairs?
God's desire was for both guide and guided to see clearly and avoid the ditch, not for them to go their ways, the one with the beam in his eye and the other with the speck in his eye, and both of them fall into the ditch.
Gotta love the “pro judging others” lobby. If that’s the side you wanna represent, go for it.(CLV) Mt 7:1

“Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.”Agreed. This was a teaching against hypocrisy, not against exercising or rendering righteous judgments (God's own judgments according His word and His Spirit) when appropriate.
As the Lord said, the point of not having a beam in one's own eye was to be able to see clearly enough to remove the speck from the eye of one's brother, so that he might walk in the way of righteousness.
God's desire was for both guide and guided to see clearly and avoid the ditch, not for them to go their ways, the one with the beam in his eye and the other with the speck in his eye, and both of them fall into the ditch.
A good example of the importance of reading verses completely.
It’s often the spirit and manner that Christians pass along the scripture That carries the judgement, and ruins the testimony for Christ among unbelievers.God judges ... the word of God judges ... often when people pass along the words of the Lord (through scripture) ... and much of it "judges" ... they attribute "judgement" to the person passing along scripture rather than understanding it is actually coming from the Lord.
John 5:22
The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,
Matthew 7:1
“Judge not, that you be not judged.
Matthew 7:1-2
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
We are to point non-believers to Jesus. We are to encourage and admonish those within the faith when they are being led astray.
Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
James 4:11
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
Judging ... people of faith are suppose to know and understand the difference of being admonished by their brothers and sisters and the admonishment by them is supposed to be in a kind and loving manner.
People outside of the faith have difficulty and often cite "judgement" when in reality it is His teachings and scripture that is "judging" them ... not the person passing it along.
We pass along the knowledge of scripture and then the same is brought to minds and hearts and one either considers it ... dismisses it ... argues it ... mocks it ... or whatever ... but the point is .... they have been made aware of it through His word.
So no ... we are not to judge .... that's the Lord business.
John 7:24
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
What is right judgment? His Word.
“Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.”
Crickets.
