  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For our physicanl well being, God gave us dietary laws, it started in the Garden of Eden, which was only fruit and grain, after Adam and Even got kicked out then herbs were added. By the time of the flood, kosher meat was added to the dietary list, but many of the prophets and princes were vegetarian.

The benefits are that they had "no blemish, but well favoured, and skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace...." Dan 1:4 The Jewish people are known for this even today, and though out the generations, jealousy has risen its head at the wisdom and ability of the Jewish people. It was God who gets all the glory, for if he had not taught his people, they would not have experienced the benefits of good health.

Spiritual blessings are many. For those who eat kosher, they know of God's blessing upon the food that they eat. They will also experience a clearer mind, clear conscience, healthier life, and more wisdom from following God's directive.

They are also preparing themselves for the day when the Lord returns to take him with him, so that they can eat at the Wedding Feast with Jesus. They know that that table will be loaded with the food from the Garden of Eden.

I agree that one of the *outcomes* of eating a truly kosher diet may be decreased chance of numerous diet related infirmities - but I strongly disagree that the *reason* was health. Over and Over again G-d states one reason for His Laws - For His ia G-d and we are to be holy just as He is Holy. Holy is NOT some esoteric state of perfection. No man can be perfect and G-d would not command and require of us what can not be achieved. Holy *means* set apart - particularly for a special use, specifically to be unique and singular. This describes G-d and the Jewish people and all who obey His commands. :)
