  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi there, I have a question about Juche thought. I have researched some and found it has 19 million followers. Does anyone on these forums know anything about this? How did it originate? Do thet have any "religious practices", or can it be even called a religion? I'm kinda confused, and I thought it would be a neat topic of discussion.

Juche is the ideology of North Korea. Juche means "self-reliance". It basically states that the proletariat revolution was the people's and that the proletariat need to be ruled by a leader. Kim II Sung made the analogy that the leader is the brain, and the people are the body, and that state-sponsored organizations are the "nervous system". This ideology also calls for North Korea to be self-sufficent.

The ideology is state-sponsored, and has been promoted by North Korea since 1955. It pretty much developed from Stalinism and the ideas of Kim II Sung. In 1977 Juche replaced Marxism in the North Korean constitution. It pretty much only exists in North Korea.

Some say it is similar in some respects to a religion because the people are viewed as gaining immortality through service to the state. It also stipulates that the leader is received the same way as Christ would be during communion.
