The JST substitutes sanctified for justified.

These are different terms and every greek manuscript supports the term justification.

Some LDS claim that Joseph as a prophet restored what was intended. If this were the case, then it is not a TRANSLATION. That term is misleading since no translation of any greek manuscript can render this as sanctified.

Smith's rendering of sanctification props up a works salvation and presents a different gospel than taught by Paul when he used the greek term for justify (i.e. to declare righteous).

====

I ask for an LDS member to do the following:

[1] cite one greek manuscript that uses the term for sanctification in Romans 8:30.
[2] explain why translation is not deceptive given Smith's rendering.
[3] Explain how this is not a violation of the 8th article of faith: "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly."

So justify = to declare righteous. So if one is justified they are delared to be a righteous person.

So what does sanctified =?

Can you have Glorification before you have been Sanctified?

According to your presentation, the answer is no. You must be justified (past), then sanctified (present) and then you can be glorified (future). Not justified, then directly to glorified.

The scripture seems to get ahead of itself, according to your presentation. It also says that a person is justified, then glorified. That goes against your past, present, future presentation.

So what is it? Is sanctified really a better word than justified, because once a person is sanctified, then they can be glorified.

Seems to me, from your presentation, sanctified would be a better word for Romans 8:30.

I am justified based upon Christ's righteousness credited to me through faith. My glorification will be based on His perfect righteousness not mine.

Are YOU perfectly righteous? now? perhaps next week?

According to your presentation, justification does not lead to glorification. Glorification comes after sanctification.

According to your presentation, justification does not lead to glorification. Glorification comes after sanctification.

What you are saying is that having begun the process, God decides to not complete it.
