  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can joy really be found in mourning. The answer is "yes".

Though we rarely feel like shouting with joy when troubles come our way, that is exactly what we should do.

Not because we enjoy the trials, but because God has promised us that He will not give us anything beyond what we can bear ( 1 Cor. 10: 13). He has also said that in all things, He is with us...leading us to victory.

Few of us react with joy when trials and difficulties come our way, however. For the majority of us, we would probably agree that God certainly has more faith in what we can handle than we do!

Though God allows trials and difficulties to enter our lives, His ultimate will is for His children to possess an abundance, and to be full of joy. In John 10: 10, Jesus tells us that, "The thief (satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; but, [He says] I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Jesus wants us to have an abundance of blessings..spiritual, as well as physical, psychological, and even material blessings (Matthew 5: 6, 1 Peter 2: 24; Philippians 4: 7, 19).

God will supply all our needs.

We will be victorious over satan, as long as we believe in Jesus Christ and put our faith and trust in Him.

John writes that we are "from God and have overcome [the works of satan], because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" ( 1 John 4: 4).

We can take joy in our times of mourning, realizing that every time a trial comes into our life, it is an opportunity for God to prove to us one more time that He is Lord of all.

Though we are not exempt from struggles, God never abandons His children. He is with us even in the deepest trials (Psalm 23: 4 - 5; 2 Corinthians 4: 7 - 9).

It is for these reasons we are able to find joy, even in times of mourning.

2. How is a loving God treating us in our trials?

Hebrews 12: 7 - 10 .....................

3. Is there a danger of being destroyed through our trials?
