  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm reading a wonderfull book: Finding God's Path through trials and I read this verse: :clap:

Jak 1:2
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

I must say that in English I understand less then nothing from it :scratch: , but in Dutch I looked it up in the newest Bible translation and I felt really comforted. :idea:
I'm wondering how you feel when you read this: does it strongen your faith, what's you interpertation?

Love and hugs :groupray:

I find James 1:2-3 exceedingly encouraging, though I think the King James does a poor job of translating it.

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." [NASB]

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience." [NKJV]

"Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience great trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." [CSB]

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." [NIV]

The decision of the KJV translators to render peirasmois as "temptations" is inappropriate in this context.
