Feels as though Psychologists are severely under equipment to truly heal someone's mind unless they are Christian.
As the LORD is the breaker of chains and no medication is really going to heal or free anyone's mind. That's my opinion @Jesse Dornfeld
I think neither had that intent or broad influence. So you dont think Freud and Jung captured the minds of the age and led a diversion away from the invitation of Jesus?
Just one last comment, but it is out of a legitimate concern, so I do not say this lightly but what if Peterson is a figure to which a synonymous statement could be made of him, "To deceive, if possible, even the elect."
That might just be me being paranoid, but I do feel I could be right about that. And if I could be right does that change your perception at all?
I think neither had that intent or broad influence.
I have always believed that the elect will not be deceived for two reasons, first because they have the Spirit of Truth within, second because they are part of a body in which the discernment is corporate. So being in healthy fellowship is a place of safety.
Wrong kind of response. "I'm elect so I cannot be deceived," is a bit arrogant.
Anyways, That's for engaging me on this. I will not go on and on about this.
What is arrogant about agreeing with scripture?
I don't think it is arrogant to agree with scripture. I think it is arrogant to think, "It couldn't happen to me." The point of the verse that is in question is to tell us to NOT be arrogant about such things. To not think that we don't have to concern ourselves with such things, but the opposite: that we should concern ourselves with such things.
Oh?Your assumption is naive.
So there is no room to know you will be saved?
I believe scripture teaches that we can lose our salvation.
Scripture does warn of apostasy but the LORD has said, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." John 15:16I believe scripture teaches that we can lose our salvation.
Interesting parallel: Jordan Peterson as an exorcist. He "was not following us," and was therefore not a follower of Christ. This is precisely Peterson, who has done "mighty works" in Christ's name. Even the sheer number of young people who have turned from nihilism and suicide on account of Peterson is sufficient.
