His American Recordings material is ingenius. I haven't listened to them in a while, but earlier today I clicked on "The Man Comes Around" in iTunes by mistake and I was instantly drawn in when his voice came in with the spoken part: "I heard, as it were, the sound of thunder..." What an amazing song.

Not to mention his cover of "Hurt" and Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down". And his cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" with Joe Strummer.

I miss him.

I'd say one of the American Recordings albums; all of those are great.

If you can hold off for a month, I can hook you up when we get to Gordon.

The video for "Hurt" had me speechless, first time I saw it. And yeah, his American Recordings are the perfect place to start.
