  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

hey y'all. i've been pouring over the CCC this weekend and i have several questions. i'll just make a seperate post for each so as not to get confusing. and bear with me cause i'm still unsure how to reference it and all.

okay in the CCC at 523 it says "St. John the Baptist is the Lord's immediate precursor or forerunner, sent to prepare his way.'Prophet of the Most High', John surpasses all the prophets, of whom he is the last."

so does this mean that the Church's position on prophets is that with the death of John, thus results in the abscene of (or denial of) modern day prophets?

hope this makes sense..

kimber1,

John the Baptist was the last prophet BEFORE the coming of Christ. He was preceded by many prophets that told of His coming. John the Baptist was the last. This does not mean that he was the last ever, just the last one berfore Christ was born.

The office of prophet is clearly spoken of in the New Testement.
