  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My father was a priest among his peers

My mother was barren and advanced in years

Both were righteous before God and blameless

When one day my dad went into the temple to burn incense

And an angel appeared and told him things that made no sense

So it was that people were made to have joy and gladness

The time had come for the prophecy to be unveiled at last

What will his name be called, they asked..

On a tablet, my father wrote, "His name is John."

All who heard, kept these things in mind

Until one day in the wilderness the people did find

The one crying in the wilderness saying, "Make straight the paths of the Lord."

I wore a garment of camels hair and leather girdle

And people from all around Jordan river encircled

Being baptized while confessing their sins

But I said commit deeds worthy of repentance

Or this will be your death sentence:

Like a tree without good fruit; you will be thrown into the flames

For I baptize with water

But He who comes after is hotter

He will baptize you with The Holy Ghost and fire

Then to Jordan came this Jesus from Galilee

And I told Him I had need to be baptized of thee

But He said, "suffer it now: for we must fulfill all righteousness."

Then when Jesus came out of the water

The heavens parted above

And the Holy Spirit descended as a dove

And a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

Now before the days I was cast into prison

There arose a question that caused some division

They asked, "What about this man you witnessed, behold He baptizes and all men come to Him."

But I said, "He must increase; but I must decrease." He that believes in Him life shall never cease

But they that believe Him not the wrath of God abides on them.

Now shortly before my life was to end

Two of my disciples to Jesus I did send

Asking, "Are you He that should come or do we look for another?"

He said, "Go your way, and tell John what you see and hear; how the blind see

The lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear; the dead are raised,

To the poor the gospel is preached. Blessed is whosoever is not offended in Me."

So when death is near

Don’t lose faith and fear

For He has promised to never leave nor forsake you.

And if in service God chooses for you to be killed

Count it a privilege, don’t resist His will

Because to be absent from the body is to be present with Him

Then in glory you’ll be ever with the King

With a new song to sing

" Praise the Lamb of God for sinners slain!"

John the Baptist was a priest & prophet

God gave Israel His Law & sacrificial system thru Moses. So they could attain atonement for their & iniquities/sins

God ordained/chose (Ex 28:1-2) Aaron, Moses elder brother. As High Priest & had him offer the sacrifice of atonement on the 10th day of the 7th month, the Day of Atonement. So the yearly sins of Israel could be cleansed/covered (not taken away) (Lev 16)

God specified that the sacrifice's of the Day of Atonement could only be offered by Aaron & the succeeding High Priests among his descendants. Two were offered, a lot was drawn. One was sacrificed to the Lord. The other, Aaron was to lay his hands on the head of the Azazel Scapegoat. He would confess all the peoples sins. And the Azazel Scapegoat was sent into the wilderness. Carrying away all the people sins with it. (Lev 16:8-10, 21 & 22)

John the Baptist confessed/announced: Behold the Lamd of God, that TAKES AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD. John then layed his hands on Jesus and Baptized him?

Where did Jesus go immediately after His baptism? Answer: The wilderness! Again, Only the High Priest could inact this sin transfer process. (see scapegoat Lev 16:10)

John the Baptist let it be known clearly that Jesus was the Savior of mankind. In the age of the New Testament, God sent John the Baptist, a descendant of Aaron (1 Chr 24:10, Luke 1:5) & the last High Priest of the Old Testament (Matt 11:11-13)

John the Baptist was God's sent/chosen prophet & appointed by God (like Aaron) High Priest. John's father was a priest, descended from Aaron on both his mothers and fathers blood line. A pure blooded priest, a cohanim to he house of Aaron.

The cohanim, identified the sacrifice acceptable and presented the lambs for sacrifice.

John the Baptist fortold that one much greater then himself was coming. One who's shoes John wasn't fit to tie. John 1:27 & Mark 1:7.

John 1:29 (B) John seeing Jesus anounced; Behold, the Lamb of God! Which takes away the sins of the world.

John identified & certified. Jesus Christ the Lamb of God to be an acceptable sacrifice. Jesus undergoes Semikhah here as well. We saw him in the Temple at 12, now he's 30, thats 18 yrs & the 2nd confirming voice comes fron heaven Matt 3:17. With the laying on of hands by John, the water putification Baptism & the 2 voices. Jesus is now a Rabbi by authority or ordination.

The two priests meet face to face. When John baptized Jesus, he not only transferred the old covenant Priesthood to the New covenants "Great" High Priest. John also passed (transfered) all the sins of humankind onto Him, the Son of God. The Scapegoat who was chosen to save sinners. Only God's chosen High Priest had the power of this sin transfer.

Lev 16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:(see Lev 16:8,9,10,21 & 22 on transfer process)

Immediately after John baptizes Jesus. Jesus our Scapegoat goes into the wilderness. Mark 1:12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

All people are blessed to be able to have their sins passed onto Jesus thru John the Baptist. The role of John was to be the High Priest who represented humankind. Gods servant who passed all our sins onto Jesus (Mal 3:1, Isa 40:3, Num 8:7, Matt 3:1-3, John 1:6, John 1:33)

John the Baptist was the representative & the High Priest of humankind sent by God. The prophesied/foretold (Mal 3:1, Isa 40:3, Num 8:7) messenger sent 6 months prior to Jesus

Jesus was/is the Lamb of God, """who took away""" (not just covered) all the sins of the world. John the Baptist was the last Old Testament High Priest. And passed the sins of the world onto Jesus through baptism. John the Baptist was the chosen servant of God.

Jesus Sin Atonement is universal. Offered to anyone that places their FAITH in Jesus Sacrificial Sin Atoning Death, Burial & Resurrection. Maranatha
