  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I too would like to know what a KJV onlist is.
I use the KJV mostly and adore the olde tyme Englishe words.

A KJV onlyist is a nutcase who thinks that all other Bible translations are Satanic. They especially hate the NIV, viewing it as "the vomit of Satan".

Truly, these nutcases are as brainwashed as they come - worse than anyone - worse than JWs, even worse than David Irving (the holocaust denier). Next to the KJV bible on a KJV onlyist bookshelf is the new David Irving book "9/11 never happened". :p

If we do - will you join us then? ;)

There is an interesting thread in the anglican section on Spong at the moment.

He was not allowed to preach in our diocese when he came to Australia.

"He was not allowed to preach in our diocese when he came to Australia." Way to go Erin! That's what I like to hear - 50 blessings for that!

Fortunately I know just enough of his "teachings" to know that Spong is in essence one of those whom John had very harsh words to say in his second letter (see especially verses 7-11, which indicate that there's no room to like a portion of what one of these people has to say). I am comforted by the fact that I attend an Anglican church in a diocese that is firmly rooted in the complete and pure truth of the Gospel.

Well to the person who accused conservative anglicans in australia of this - you've gotta be kidding. I've been in a very conservative - evangelical diocese for over 10 years and I've yet to see anyone even read from the KJV in church. We use predominantly the NIV (would that be the new inaccurate version then), but also the ESV (Extra Special Version/ Eastern Suburbs Version depending where you live -becoming more popular) and sometimes the NRSV (new really suave version).;)

either way - you may need to do a bit more research.

Agreed - it's one thing to base an opinion on hearsay, but another thing to experience it's really like in order to formulate a personal and educated opinion :) If I have tangible evidence in front of me, I'm more equipped to formulate an opinion than if I adopted the ideology of a secondary source.

I have listened to Jack Spong preach both in Methodist AND Anglican dioceses here in NZ. I find much of what he says to be valuable. His thesis is that we must find new ways to talk about God as much of the old language concerning God comes from a time before the copernican revolution in thought.

I agree frankly.

Why is it my priviledge to meet so many nuts? I know a few people like this.
Why OH WHY!!!! ... do I have to meet so many nuts????
Oh well, once I find out what nutcases they are, I soon slam the door in their face, whether it be here at home, or on the web. And once I close the door on a nutter, I don't bother to look back. Bang, bingo zip - they're gawn....:holy:
