  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not all that he teaches is Biblical and contrasts what Jesus taught (i.e. his leanings toward prosperity theology). I've also heard that he predicted the rapture was going to take place a few years ago.

Personally, I'd avoid him and just spend more time reading my Bible instead.

I loved him as a kid. I got caught up in his message. Now, I feel he gets caught up in what will happen more than how to live for God right now. I do know he does not always teach on what is going to be, but it seems to be larger aspect of who he is and what he is saying. Consequently, I have searched out others to listen to because I see the need to focus on how to live to Christ.

I also heard he was in the predicting that the rapture was going to happen before now. I also heard now we have 5 years from that date as a grace period before we will be raptured....Which no one knows...

There has been a lot foretold events. I think the biggest thing should be how to live for God right now and not worrying about the future.

:preach: Most don't like him because he shines the light into alot of people's darkness and doesn't sugarcoat the scriptures to make the complacent Christians happy like so many others do. I understand we want to feel comfortable but Christianity isn't a hobby or a I pray when I need something kind of a thing. We should all strive to be as committed as lets say the Apostle Paul was. we have to work but we should think about Christ as much as possible.

Alot of Christians which Hagee refers to as Counterfeit Christians want to talk the talk but they don't want to walk the walk. It is easy to talk the talk online and when at church or better put when we are in our personal " comfort zone ". I used to be the same way but I made the change and I often find that most Christians don't want to talk about Jesus or the word in public. I often witness to alot of Christians that don't want to talk about it in public or will be quiet when a stranger gets near.

He talks about faith and works also. The point is that real faith produces works. If we have our "own" faith that we developed from reading the Bible and applying our heart to the kingdom to bear fruit for Jesus build up our faith in Christ. I find often that alot don't even know what the word faith means and I used to be the same way and was a Complacent Christians for my 1st 2 years. I never read the word and thus my faith was predominately based on others faith. Remember that when we face the throne of judgment on that day that our closest friends and even our Pastor won't be there to hold our hands.

After coming to salvation the next part to develop our faith is to become a "Living Sacrifice" Romans 12:1-21

we have to crucify the flesh to be led by the spirit which is righteous and we have to let Jesus renew our minds to follow his good, pleasing, perfect will. It isn't about a 50/50 relationship of I will be a Christian when I feel comfortable and when I feel like sinning I will at will. I used to think that once I came to savation that I could just go to church on Sunday and that was enough.

Matthew 7:22-23

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers!'

See many Christians sound religious but don't have a personal relationship with Jesus. We can't get that until we become sanctified with him and do his will instead of ours. Many can tell you all about the Bible based mostly on others opinions and what they read with their minds and eyes. Sanctified Christians read with their hearts and swallow their pride and self-centered ways and try to live a life like Jesus where you can give your love without needing to recieve anything back. Jesus gave his life for you and in order to grow in your salvation you have to become obedient to him.

1 Peter 2:1-3

Therefore rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you can grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

The word of God is our bottle and the Holy Spirit holds that bottle for us and he counsels us in the word. He interprets it for us and writes it into our hearts for us. If we don't feed on the word we remain stagnant and complacent and don't put our faith into action and our faith remains as a mustard seed. The problem is we remain on the fence and the temptations of the flesh, the world, and Satan break alot of our faith which is weak in nature until we start to feed on the word and grow in spiritual maturity. Fleshly maturity means nothing if we aren't developing our own faith and personal relationship with Christ.

I used to read the word with my eyes and memorized one scripture in 2 years and now that I read with my heart I know over 40 scriptures by heart and can recite them allowed. The point is I accessed the Holy Spirit and let him train me instead of training myself and grew in my salvation by developing my own faith.

James 2:26

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

See we can't have our own faith if we are complacent and are trying to live in the light and the dark. Thus we have no faith if don't do the works and we can't have faith based on other people's faith. It says in Matthew 7:22 that many will be sent away because they never developed their own faith and personal relationship with Jesus.

This is not an attack but rather a wake up call because I used to think that just going to church and thus going through the motions was going to be enough. I would put on my Christian coat when I went to church and when I got home I would take it off and go back to the darkness and desires of the flesh. We will all fall short of God's glory every day but our personal faith in what Jesus did on Calvary and our personal repentence saves us from the wages of sin and death. Thus our own personal faith in Christ Jesus which is strengthened by our works to bear fruit for the kingdom of God saves us from the condemnation of sin.

John 14:6 Jesus answered:

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus is the only way to the Father and we need to have our own faith in him which grows in spiritual maturity based on our works for the kingdom. Hagee is correct in that he doesn't sugarcoat the word to satisfy complacency. He thus tries to light a fire under people's but to get them fired up for Jesus and to become sanctified to his will.

James 4:10

Humble yourself before the Lord and he will lift you up.

ALL GLORY AND PRAISE TO THE PERFECTION OF THE HOLY TRINITY!

I like brother Hagee! He's blunt and to the point, and I love that!:amen:

I agree!!! A lot of pastors preach what their congregation want's to hear because they dont' want to make anyone upset. But the Word of God is supposed to make you uncomfortable if your not living what it says. If the preacher, every sunday, just tells you that everything is alright, then no one ever changes. I like a preacher who isn't afraid to preach God's uncompromising Word!!!

In a sermon he said that "if the rapture has not occured by 2012 then I'd say that we are late." I remember watching that on TV when he said that.

John Hagee is one of the only TV preachers that I will watch. I've bought tapes and read a couple of his books. I really like his style. No one should replace reading God's word.

One thing for sure is that he challenges Christians who are "happy-clappy Christians" to get off of their "blessed assurance" and get busy serving God.

How long ago was that?

late 90's. 97-99. I don't remember the exact year but I remember thinking then that's not too far away.

I don't really put much stock in people predicting dates and years--if they are right then they are right, if they are wrong then they are wrong.

What I also respected about him was during the Y2K ordeal, other preachers were making a killing off of 'selling' guides of tips for the Y2K crisis. JH's stance was--why the hysteria? I think you should be prepared by having enough food for a month. He was making a point about Christians not living in fear.

No, the time I was referring to was not that time. This was several years ago. He stated that the rapture was going to take place in the next year or so. I don't remember the exact words but I remember reading it. I'm sure somebody here knows what he said. As I recall, it made the news...anyhow, he was wrong.

I think of him as a false prophet but, overall, I wish more people would turn off the television and read their Bibles instead.

IMHO He's like alot of them.

There are things he says I like, some that cause me to think, and some that I wonder what they put in his tea that day.

I'm just grateful there is a christian network on the air. It's just like NBC/ABC/FOX love some shows, won't look twice at others. BUT I'm glad they are there.

I used to watch John Hagee often--thought he was a good biblical preacher. It has probably been 9 years since I last watched his program (I no longer have cable TV).

However, I have been told that his ministry seems to be more of a show now and his sermons are not as useful as they once were.

Also, if you are interested it appears that Hagee mentioned something about the rapture on 20 March 2003. You can read about it at:

I also looked at John Hagee's website--to me it looks like he is trying to make the point that you can see the signs of the time. But, if he is actually claiming to know when the rapture will take place I would advise against watching or supporting him.
