  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Howdy billwald,

Greetings.
John 3 teaches that the Holy Spirit does what he will and "being born again" is not a human option. Regeneration preceeds conversion.
Your statement confuses me, and is perhaps part of a larger theology. Looking at the verse in question:

John 3:16 (KJV): "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life "

This simply teaches me that faith is the means of salvation, and faith centred in the crucifixion, death and resurrection of God's only begotten Son.

As we were not physically present at the crucifixion, we rely on the report or preaching of the Apostles, and hearing their report, we believe, and this belief leads to repentance, and leading a life in conformity with Jesus Christ and him crucified and resurrected.
Isaiah 53:1 (KJV): "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?"
Romans 10:16-17 (KJV): "16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Galatians 2:20 (KJV): "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Kind regards
Trevor
