  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A president doesn't have to pick a frontrunner. In the case of Kamala, he has chosen somebody that's similar to his own politics, a moderately conservative. Both are liberals, not leftists, but the actual hard ideological left in the US (the kind that reads Mother Jones, for instance) represent only about ten percent of the US populatino.

Not relevant to the point.

In the case of Kamala, he has chosen somebody that's similar to his own politics, a moderately conservative.
She had the single most liberal voting record of any of the 100 members of the Senate!

This also depends how liberal or conservative the Senate is as a whole and given the need to win across an entire state that pushes most Senators more towards the middle than you’d find in the House so to me being the “most liberal Senator” doesn’t say much as far as just how liberal that particular Senator actually is in terms of their views and politics.

Politics is of course regional. A U.S. "liberal" is still often a European "conservative" or at the very most a moderate.

And I am amazed how many people that argue politics forget the first rule of choosing a Vice President They are supposed to short up what are perceived to be the President's weak spots in his own party. Which is why most Presidents are moderates in their own party and their Veeps are either conservative for Republicans or liberal if one is a Democrat. I swear that they also sometimes try to choose a Vice President that the other party does NOT want to see as President. That protects them from assassinations and unmerited impeachments

On his worst day, Biden is twice the President EX President Trump was. Admittedly EX President Trump set an extremely low bar.
Hahahaha! Ok we will see about that as he rapidly declines into a nursing home.

Is Kamala supposed to be the Right's new bogieman? That's ridiculous, and panders to racist tropes.

Forgive us white people for daring to question the intentions of a black. We're still in white humbleness training.

If they're so similar, then why does she poll so unfavorably?
(HINT: Trotting out the race card is a surefire losing proposition here)

Among independents in the May 11 poll, Harris clocks in at 38 percent “favorable,” 53 percent “unfavorable.” That's 15 points underwater.
Here's why Joe Biden polls well, but Kamala Harris does not

Presidents often choose people that are further to the right if they are Republican or further to the left if they are Democratic. It helps bring in the wingnuts to support the party. And I have a bit of a snarky belief that it is done to deter assassins too. Shoot Trump and you get Mike Pence, even worse in some ways (though Trump turned into quite the wingnut himself) shoot Biden and you get Kamala.

What? The first time?

How many times did trump lose his cool at reporters saying nasty things to them? At least once a press conference.

Predict the date.

We'll see how well you do ...

I give him four months. Six months at tops. I am willing to be surprised if it is even less.
I want to wish a happy 5th anniversary to these comments. They've aged like a fine avocado, as has this thread titled "Joe Biden Loses Cool When Asked Question". It's a recommended read if your body is low on irony.

I can only marvel at how high the collective standards for acceptable presidential behavior used to be and how low they have fallen since a couple days ago Trump told Bloomberg White House correspondent Catherine Lucey, “Quiet, quiet piggy,” as she pressed him on the Epstein Files.

Hard to believe that made him snap. It was just a softball about the recently released trove of emails in which Trump's name appears 2000 times. You know,... the emails,... from his best friend of 10 years,... the pedophile human trafficker. You probably didn't hear about it. It wasn't even remarkable enough to warrant a thread on this forum.

And it's not even been 24 hours since Trump called for 6 democrats to be put to death.

Not unusual behavior right? He then went on to "retruth" a post calling for them to be hanged. The sitting president of the United States reposted someone saying that other elected officials should be hanged. Talk about an angry old man losing his cool. And that's without even going into the MTG catfighting (which resulted in her receiving credible threats) or any of the dozen other public meltdowns of the last couple of weeks.

If we're making predictions I think we're about 2 months removed from the headline: "Trump family flees to Russia". I am willing to be surprised if it is even less. /s

Happy Birthday Joe. 83. Undergoing cancer treatments. And he still took time to board a train to attend a former VP's funeral yesterday. Where was the sitting POTUS? Oh, that's right. Threatening members of Congress for their loyalty to the U.S. Consitution.

Meh! I was wrong. Joe’s auto-pen endured to the end of his term.

As to Trump, he always was a boor. But that’s OK these days I guess. Your predictions? We’ll see how they age.
